BUSHISM OF THE DAY
"If you believe, as I do, that America's best days are ahead of us, then join me tomorrow and change the direction of America."-- John Kerry in Milwaukee yesterday. Via WSJ Opinion Journal.
Posted by Tim Blair at November 3, 2004 10:38 AMToo funny!
I had to read it twice!
"If you like where we're heading, let's go somewhere else!"
Posted by: Karen at November 3, 2004 at 10:45 AMThat change of direction for the US being a bending over, with pants around the ankles?
Posted by: Scott Campbell at Blithering Bunny at November 3, 2004 at 11:49 AMHey, can someone tell me what the deal is with Yahoo News' "projections".
They call some states really, really early, and others they hang on to, even if one guy is trouncing the other?
And what is the deal with this:
Maine 100% (Bush) 0% (Kerry) Winner - 3 Kerry
Eh?
This is interesting, though:
EC S PV
Bush 102 10 55% 6,797,793
Kerry 77 9 44% 5,478,620
Watching BBC and Sky here in Britain - nothing whatsoever is being said about Bush's massive lead so far in the popular vote (according to Yahoo News, at least. Quentin, I noticed the same anomaly myself about Maine on Yahoo News - it's now changed, but still makes no sense).
BBC is the worst - it is interviewing lots of Kerry people who are proclaiming that the election is Kerry's, and are already talking about what sort of commander-in-chief he'll be - hard to know whether this is just bluffing , or whether they're really deluding themselves.
Posted by: Scott Campbell at Blithering Bunny at November 3, 2004 at 12:09 PMyahoo have updated those numbers, but they still make absolutely no sense, because, according to these percentages, bush has won maine, according to their map and winner projectiob for maine, it's kerry.
i'm so anxious......
Maine 52% 46% 3 Kerry
Posted by: nicki at November 3, 2004 at 12:16 PMSo far so good for Bush with 54% of the vote. Florida and Ohio leaning towards the GOP. well Florida looks a shoo-in after 40% of the vote Bush is running at 56%. Ohio only 5% in and Bush 52%.
Not much work being done back in Oz today.
Posted by: Michael Gill at November 3, 2004 at 12:16 PMAccording to yahoo, it nows stands at:
Bush 153 16 54% 10,086,362
Kerry 112 11 46% 8,625,549
If the popular vote percentages stay around there, I can't see Bush losing.
Posted by: Quentin George at November 3, 2004 at 12:17 PMok it JUST changed to
Maine 47% 51% 3 Kerry
think i'll just stick with watching fox news..
Posted by: nicki at November 3, 2004 at 12:17 PMSky News finally mention the popular vote at 2:30 am, but even then they downplay its significance. If it was Kerry 55-44 the British networks would be making much of it.
CNN Europe at least have this up.
Posted by: Scott Campbell at Blithering Bunny at November 3, 2004 at 12:33 PMI had a brief look over at Depleted Uranium.
Moonbat heads are starting to explode!!!
Posted by: Kaboom at November 3, 2004 at 12:36 PMOn the Yahoo numbers, I saw an explanation over at LGF that says it has to do with the feeds to Yahoo not being very smooth. Best stick to Fox for real time info.
Posted by: Retread at November 3, 2004 at 12:40 PMI've heard the vote splitting amendment thingy in Colorado didn't get up.
Posted by: Quentin George at November 3, 2004 at 12:44 PMIllinois 28% 72% - 21 Kerry
Gee, Republicans aren't popular in Illinois, eh?
Posted by: Quentin George at November 3, 2004 at 12:50 PM
They sure aren't popular in the District Of Columbia either:
9% Bush, 90% Kerry
Posted by: Kaboom at November 3, 2004 at 12:59 PMThe expression on the face of Dan Rather as he reports on the US election seems to be increasinlgy like that on the face of Kerry O'Brien as he reported on trends in the OZ election (at a comparable time in the count). I am supposing that this is a good omen.
Posted by: Jef at November 3, 2004 at 01:44 PMGreat line Kerry! But I think Reagan already used it dickweed.
Posted by: jim at November 3, 2004 at 06:39 PMMaine is in the peoples republic of New England, so that'll definitely go to Kerry.
Posted by: Jonny at November 3, 2004 at 09:25 PMNever mind the popular vote, that will not in itself get anyone in.
What I see is each news source showes different states as won. On FOX Bush has 269 EC, on CNN and others it is 249 - 254 EC. But if you notice, FOX has Ohio and not Nevada for Bush while CNN has the opposite. All this is for is to not have a definite winner and keep people comming back to their sites. A simple way to get more ad revenue. And of course CNN wants to show Bush as far behind as possible without telling any lies. FOX? I think they want to show Bush as close as possible without ending the revenue stream.
Pure capitalism on both sides, even if CNN won't admit it.
