COMMENTS

Comments still aren't working (or maybe Andrea has finally banned everybody. You people just had to keep annoying her, didn't you?).

Kind of boring, this comment-free format. Hopefully all will be repaired shortly. The problem was apparently a troll-driven mass spam assault, which threatened to overwhelm something called a "server". So, essentially, it was an attempted denial-of-service attack.

I'm so glad the comments are back.

Andrea, I've had to run websites m'self so I know what a pain in the a** it is to have this sorta problem added to your to-do list. Nicely done

Might have been a similar outfit that hit Ubersportingpundit domain last night. I've spent a lot of the day trying to fix it.

CHMOD your comment script to "000" for a while. The creeps will get bored and go elsewhere. Then you can turn comments back on.

Here's what I got and what I sent in response when I tried to post earlier.

anything we might have
done that may have caused the error?

Blaming the victims, are you? Why does Andrea hate us?

C'mon Ms Harris! I'm "jonesin'" to leave a comment! Let us in!

The spam over-load couldn't have had anything to do with the emails sent to the Guardian, could it?A case of the Empire strikes back.

No, the catalyst seemed to be this post.
