SPORTS BRIEFLETS

• Eddie Irvine has devised a brilliant strategy to counter Michael Schumacher’s Formula One dominance. And people say the Irish are stupid!

• Congratulations to Muttiah Muralitharan, who now holds the world record for taking the most wickets without actually bowling.

• All my rugby union friends are depressed because the Waratards lost again. Therefore they're all out drinking which, strangely, they'd also planned to do in the event of a 'Tards win.

I know nothing of your strange sports rituals but that picture of Latham is so dying for a caption contest.

Tim,
Just be glad you don't have any Raiders "fans" in Australia. Oh, that's right, Australia was founded by criminals, so there must be Raiders fans there.

We even have some (snicker/snicker) die hard Collingwood Football fans here, Eh Tim.

Go the Pidgeons urgh sorry the Eagles.

There's just something so right about Murali chucking his way to glory against the enfeebled-by-politics Zimbabs isn't there? One can't bowl, the others can't bat (or bowl....or field....or win the toss, play-the-parcel etc etc). Quite the combined monument to ICC feebleness & the Mugabe regime's tunnel-vision.

Was this bowler once so good that he now gets a pass on following the rules? Or was he always given a pass?

Michael Jordan never got called for travelling, for instance, despite doing it pretty much every game.

He He- poor old NSW; what is it, thirteen years straight now? What's the betting on a Wallaby side full of the useless bastards again, just for a change.

So, Irvine has come up with the devious plan to distract Ralph by waving a photo of a page 3 girl in front of him. That is an evil, underhanded trick.

Tim m'man,

You forgot to mention the Blues triumph over Collingwood on Saturday. Selective news reporting again, huh?

In 1976-77, Collingwood famously went from collecting the wooden spoon (1976) to contesting (and losing) the 1977 Grand Final.

It now appears the Maggies are angling for an exact reversal of that stunning achievement in 2003-04. These are great days indeed.
