LIVE FROM NEW YORK

I'll be on Radio National's Counterpoint show in a few minutes with host Michael Duffy and a panel of important discussers. We'll be discussing something important.

MID-INTERVIEW UPDATE. Man, who is this Juliana woman? The one talking about collage?

Will this discussion be merely important, or really important?

Posted by: perfectsense at August 2, 2004 at 05:27 PM

Pfft. I've been on Radio National. They're desperate. They'll take anyone. Even Tim. Even me.

(Actually, I can't remember if it was Radio National. ABC radio, anyway.)

Diud I tell you I had hot sex with Juliana? Actually, that's not accurate. I just "skewed" the facts a little.

Posted by: suberboot at August 2, 2004 at 05:45 PM

Will someone tell Juliana that "back-front" isn't the antonym for forefront.

…oh, you might also want to tell her what oedipal means.

You’re a better man than me. I don’t know how you get through such interviews without exploding with rage.

What is this Important Topic he will be discussing with Important People? Perhaps it is none other than his plan to TAKE OVER DER VORLD BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Oh, er, sorry, any communists who are on to the Imperialist-capitalist scheme to f*ck over the third-world, please disregard that last comment...

Is this the same Michael Duffy who the ABC sees as a rightist Phillip Adams? Surely couldn't be the same bloke who was on Critical Mass last night singing the praises of the Tubby Trotskyite and Loadofshite 9/11? The ABC must exist in a parallel universe.

Man, who is this Juliana woman? The one talking about collage?

...well? Who was she, then?

Looks like Michael Duffy and Counterpoint cracked it for Media Watch tonight. Visit the website, ya lazy bastard, for all the details, but it focussed on advertising on the ABC, particularly the AB bit (yep, I wrote that joke myself).

they doing cavity searches in mid-town, tim?

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at August 2, 2004 at 11:11 PM

On that show Tim opinionated that like Chicago '68 in reaction to Fahrenheit 9/11 people to vote for Bush.

Later he told how he left the showing he was at because he couldn't bear to see people stand and cheer?

What is he snorting over there?

Mr. Bingley — Cavity searches in Manhattan are mostly done below 14th St., at least for recreational purposes...

If anyone wants to listen to this, go here and get the August 2 program (RealAudio required).

Juliana is Juliana Engberg, artistic director of the Australian Center for Contemporary Art in Melbourne.

The segment with Tim begins at about 18 minutes. Tim's the first commentator to speak after the intro (on a poor phone connection, however).

Juliana does call F911 "agitprop", but she loves it as a new genre! She's almost a self-parody of a modern artist.

At about 27 minutes, lots of condescending statements about Americans and their media which I can't bring myself to transcribe.

Folllowed by this -

Julie: Collage "actually brings certain things to the forefront, places certain things at the backfront, and that's what he's done."

Tim: "Forget collage and talk about lies. He tells lies. That's not an issue of collage, that's dishonesty."

Julie: "Well, no, I think there's a difference between lies and clever deceit, and all politicians would know that, I suspect."

Tim: "When he says Americans shuffled Saudi royal family out without being checked by the CIA after Sept. 11, that's a lie."

Julie: "This is well known, this is a bit of a bit of a skew whiff of events, but it's nevertheless true they did leave the United States, whether or not he organized it to happen, it's true that it did happen, and many people in America would be astonished, I'm sure."

I'm sure she's a typical arrogant condescending liberal bint.

You better hope you skewed them a LOT.
