OWNERSHIP DISPUTED
To whom does this land belong? Bush and Kerry argue their respective cases.

Posted by Tim Blair at July 19, 2004 04:41 PMNow that's good political satire. Pokes fun at both sides, isn't vindictive, and ends with a happy dance!
Yay!
Posted by: Quentin George at July 19, 2004 at 05:35 PMAnd I love the snooty voice they gave Kerry.
(or is that his real voice?) :?
I loved that they worked in Dean's famous Yeeehhhaaaa!!!!
Posted by: CurrencyLad at July 19, 2004 at 05:38 PMI agree with Quentin, something strangely unbiased about that one. Very unusual yet pleasant to the senses.
Posted by: gubbaboy at July 19, 2004 at 06:12 PMI particularly like the Dr Strangelove piss take, very 'naunced'.
Posted by: Antipodean at July 19, 2004 at 06:22 PMThe best thing about it, besides the already-mentioned toe-tapping quality of the music, is how it lampoons not just the canditates themselves, but more importantly the mud that's being slung around.
Neither of these two guys is the way he is portrayed, either in the popular media or in this parody. Nonetheless, this is how they are continually portrayed.
And, yes, the "Kerry" voice is somewhat accurate.
This, however, the funniest thing in a long while. Plus, it's a taste of what we can see from the campaigns for the whole summer!
Posted by: Pious Agnostic at July 19, 2004 at 11:54 PMActually it's a nice send-up of that tired old Woody Guthrie saw that's been beaten to death by the "patriotic" left for decades.
Posted by: Joe at July 19, 2004 at 11:56 PMYeah, it's pretty awesome. I do like that it ends with a happy dance, too, instead of being divisive.
But with Bush calling Kerry the UN's waffling bitch, giving tax cuts and kicking ass, he comes out looking a heckuva lot better than Kerry who can only monotone that Bush is dumb and by the way he has three purple hearts for blowing up civilians in Vietnam.
Which makes it all the sweeter. For me.
Posted by: Sortelli at July 20, 2004 at 01:18 AMIt wasn't till I'd seen that cartoon that I realised I'd never heard Kerry's voice. I gave up cable TV for broadband, and don't listen to radio news. I've read plenty of stuff about Kerry, including direct quotes, so I know all about him, what he looks like, and how he talks, but not what he sounds like.
(I only know what Bush sounds like because I was glued to the TV set for a month after Sept. 11.)
Heh, you weren't the only one, Sarah. If I heard Kerry's voice out of context I'd never recongize it.
I wonder how many Democrats this is also true for?
Posted by: Sortelli at July 20, 2004 at 10:47 AMIt probably only occurs amongst blog zombies like us. Most people still watch a heck of a lot of TV.
