OVER TO YOU

I'm too busy to post, what with my frantic loping-around-the-house schedule and all. (Actually, I've got a ton of work to finish. Loping time is limited.) Meanwhile, readers are invited to hammer on any articles from the Sydney Morning Herald.

From SMH's

The introduction from Margo Kingston's book Not Sure Where to Put the Hyphens, John!

(I worked with the theory that random hyphens mark words of 3 or more syllables; but that's not it.)

the 'World's Greatest Treasurer' had himself -championed a consumption tax

his L-A-W tax cuts and -unheralded hikes to indirect taxes

heart of our democracy - Parliament House, -Canberra

the House of Representatives and the -Senate

the leader of the American -people

another -sovereign people

I've come to regard John -Howard

if a cause is sound, and openly, -passionately fought for

Alongside many, many other determined Australian -citizens.

I've been involved in some of Australia's biggest political -stories in my career

strong, intelligent, trustworthy, -independent-minded candidates

Trust. Civic duty and -sacrifice

So off I go to the Henny Herald to see what to attack.
Even more depressing than the news that Kim Il Sun was beheaded by his captors was the Herald's insistence on referring to them as "militants" , and the editorial decision to headline the in deph side story on Kim Il Sun "Korean was a devout Christian".

A paper that has no compunction in regularly using terms such as "thug" and "Torture" in relation to the Abu Ghraib story (and has devoted hundreds of hectares in colunm inches to story that is 6 months old) whilst being unable to summon the T word in relation to people who kidnap an unarmed civilian on a humanitarian mission and have him publicly beg for his life before depriving him of it in the most brutal manner plumbs the depths of moral inversion.

Just what is the SMH doing?

They have a banner picture, advertising Moore's new film that is bigger than any two of the important stories breaking on their website, for example, the beheading of the South Korean only merits half the space devoted to 'plugging' Moore.

And yet, another plug for Margo with a picture (urrghhhhh) and all.

I wish they would try and be a newspaper and stop giving free kicks to their lefty icons.

Hello, I'm from the states, where I'm in a pissfight about gays in the military. How is this being handled down under? Anybody know about UK or Israel? Thanks.

Difficult to go past Maureen Dowd's piece in the SMH in which she establishes moral equivalence between Bill Clinton's decision to put his dick in Monica's mouth with George W's decision to invade Iraq.

What is it with all these mongrel left news outlets? Now people who cut people's heads off are just "militants." What happened to "terrorists?" I guess that's a word reserved for people who smoke in bars. I also noticed "their ABC" is also saying "militants." Stuff em.

Give me a break!

Cheap Researcher:

This is covered under Rule 1. Also see rules 3, 5 and 7.

Regarding the British sailors captured by Iranian troops, has anyone else noticed that the following three things are being reported?

1. The waterway in question is one mile (1600m) wide at the widest point.
2. The Iran-Iraq border runs straight down the middle
3. The Iranians are claiming that the British were one thousand metres into Iranian territory.

If we believe that, then they were at least two hundred metres up on dry land in their boats. Talk about being off course!

Terrorist is a charged biased word with negative connotations just like Evil, Bad, Right, Wrong, Scientific Fact, Truth - Its obvious that you havent yet accepted the postmodernist agenda that reaches through the Arts Faculties as well as Media.
