RINGSIDE IN ARNIEFORNIA

Man of Steel meets Man of Sapphire! Check out Arnie’s supersized blue jewellery -- but be careful: "The only way to protect yourself is by avoiding direct eye contact with that big blue ring Schwarzenegger has been wearing. Repeat: Do NOT stare into the ring. It has hypnotic powers."

Seriously, what is what that ring Arnie's wearing? He looks like one of those eeeevil neo-cons...

It's a mood ring. If it turns red, run like hell!

I like the gift exchange the article mentions. Arnie gets a pair of RM Williams boots (real nice boots and pricey), and Howard gets ... a teddy bear!?!?! OK, the bear is the symbol of CA, but come on. Imagine the awkward moment as John hands Arnie the spiffy boots and all Arnie has is a stuffed bear. I bet they have a closet full of 'em for these occasions.

Arnold's bling bling means cross-over appeal to the voters of CA and, also, appallingly bad taste. But maybe other Republican pols should give it a try, with jewel encrusted elephant pins and six inch crosses on solid gold 'tire chain' necklaces. For too long, the party of Lincoln has dissed the American man who wants to feel flashy and pretty.

"must conquer Caleefornia"

just remember that he is pronouncing it correctly, it's the rest of us gringos that are wrong when we say "california"

Latham can't cadge ameeting even with an office boy in the Whitehouse. Howard and his good wife mix and mingle with the President at his ranch, wines and dines, and slaps backs with Arnie. Latham would have to stand out on the footpath hoping he can get Arnie's autograph.

Wait on , can't Latham get an opportunity on Play School? He and his best mate, Bob Brown, could play two gay parents - the not so Odd Couple - meet my two dads, etc.

Hey, Clair, wait till you hear about my new idea for the next episode!
