In 1976, Whitlam supported the notion that Labor should seek a secret loan from Saddam's Baath Party to fund the 1975 election campaign. Even Whitlam regards his policy as having been insane. Lucky Sevan - well, his alleged theft is in a whole other order of magnitude.

Gough would admire the bigness of his lost brother's vision.
