WHAT IS IT WITH THESE PEOPLE AND TURKEYS?

Michael Moore halts work on his latest filmic masterpiece to deliver a crushing verdict on the Bush press conference:

I have never seen a head so far up a Presidential ass (pardon my Falluja) than the one I saw last night at the "news conference" given by George W. Bush. He's still talking about finding "weapons of mass destruction" -- this time on Saddam's "turkey farm." Turkey indeed. Clearly the White House believes there are enough idiots in the 17 swing states who will buy this. I think they are in for a rude awakening.

Here’s a rude awakening for Moore -- the turkey farm to which Bush referred was in Libya. Time to hit the history eraser button again, Michael.

UPDATE. Iowahawk locates a correspondent who would’ve nailed the Bush presser big time.

If you click on the link to fatboy's website you see that he takes a similar line on events in Iraq to the Daily Kos.

Since when have small things like "facts" gotten in the way of a good Michael Moore yarn?

Posted by: Bruce Rheinstein at April 16, 2004 at 04:51 AM

I guess the Nimitz-class Michael Moore hasn't had his manservants read him this from today's Washington Post.

Good catch, Tim.

I should have known you'd find this extreme text by Michael Moore, too.

I concentrated more on his outragous statements that he wanted Americans dead.

How do you think the "minutemen" would have treated him back then, wanting his countrymen dead?

Posted by: Jan Haugland at April 16, 2004 at 07:01 AM

Hee-hee, he said "turkey farm". In South Korea there's a famous whorehouse in the Western Corridor, on the way to the DMZ, known as the Turkey Farm. It used to be big with American soldiers but is now mostly used by the ROKs. Of course, if Michael Moore showed up there, the poor little hookers would ran away in absolute terror at the thought of tons-of-fun picking them for a bit of fun.

Posted by: David Crawford at April 16, 2004 at 07:22 AM

We long-time plastic turkey fanciers knew the moment that Bush mentioned a turkey farm that it was no accident. It’s the VRWC’s brilliant move to get the left gobbling its old falsehoods frantically in its madness, bring up the whole Bush-in-Baghdad thing again (YES, let’s get THAT back into the news!), then once the Left thinks it’s secure in the catbird’s seat of a fake plastic turkey, we will smash the Left with our clenched fist of truth.

Oh, Mikey, given the results of 2002, don't you think its time you stopped making predictions? Or better yet, get out and share your bountiful personality with the world, and add your weight to the Democrat cause.

Please.

You're just wasting away there.

Heh, on another site I frequent there was the headline "BUSH LIES ABOUT WMD AGAIN!!" (yes verbatim.. all caps.. 2 !'s)

Well turns out Bush said in the press conference they confiscated 50 tons of Mustard Gas from Libya. On the turkey farm. As it so happens it was NOT 50 tons, it was 23.6 tons of mustard gas!!

AHA!! Bush lied!!

Cause, you know: 50 tons is a problem, 23 tons...not so much. *gag*

Posted by: Dash at April 16, 2004 at 08:57 AM

Jan asks: "How do you think the "minutemen" would have treated him back then, wanting his countrymen dead?"

Unfortunately Jan, I don't think even a turkey farm could provide enough feathers to tar & feather that fat bastard properly.

(Seriously, if he thinks Fallujah is to be the new punchline for his anti-American screeds, he could could wind up seriously injured.)

Posted by: JDB at April 16, 2004 at 09:02 AM

Okay, so Moore was wrong. So was Bush:

ONCE again, President George W. Bush misspoke on a weapons issue, saying that 50 tons of mustard gas were found in Libya - twice the amount actually uncovered.

The White House moved to correct the record, with press secretary Scott McClellan seeking out reporters to point out the mistake. The president should have said in his address and press conference that 23.6 tons of mustard gas were found in Libya, instead of 50 tons, McClellan said.

Bush used the 50-ton figure twice.

Posted by: Robert at April 16, 2004 at 01:34 PM

Oh, wait -- there was no mustard gas found at the turkey farm:

Moreover, the substance was found at different locations across Libya, not at a turkey farm. And observers did not find mustard gas on the farm at all, but rather unfilled chemical munitions, the White House acknowledged.

LOL at the plastic turkeys coming home to roost.

Here’s a rude awakening for Moore -- the turkey farm to which Bush referred was in Libya.

I think he knows.

The logic of what Mike is saying being "Libyra had WMDs, not Iraq, so why did you invade Iraq?" (that's assuming he's using logic).

Question: Michael Moore complains in that "wanting Americans dead" DailyKosism that the "mercenaries" are "very well paid" by their "war profiteering" corporations. Shouldn't he be *happy* that these workers are getting such fantastic pay?

Posted by: Aaron at April 16, 2004 at 03:02 PM

Moore said "pardon my Falluja"? Ho Ho! What a card! How can the Democrats lose with an insightful edgy comic like Moore on their side? I heard a rumor that in next week's column about Saddam's mass graves he asks us to "Excuse his Auschwitz".

Posted by: Bryan C at April 16, 2004 at 03:04 PM

Well, Bush erred—misspoke himself. But his people rushed to correct it. And it corroborates my™©® insight that Bush has a powerful desire to bring the whole subject of turkeys back up again. Bush HAS been following the plastic turkey myth in its flight & WOULD like Kerry or somebody to bring it up in the US press. Tim Blair & the rest of us fake flying plastic turkey fanciers will be well positioned then to capitalize on the ensuing brouhaha in order for the scoring of mots to beat the Bard!

Go W!

At that Reuters article linked to above with the words “mustard gas,” “Bush Makes Three Mistakes While Trying to Cite One,” the last paragraph contains factual errors:

His decision came after a Bush claim that Iraq had sought uranium from Niger was shown to be based on forged documents. Other assertions of weapons stashes, including some made by Iraqis intent on persuading Washington to invade their homeland to oust Saddam Hussein, were also found to be wrong.

Bush did not claim that Iraq had sought uranium from Niger. The falsehood that Bush made such a claim has been repeated many times & refuted many times, & the reporter’s failure to get it right strongly suggests left-wing bias. Bush’s claim, which was that Iraq had sought uranium in Africa has not been shown wrong. But they decided that the African claim, which the British still make, was not based on the kind of intel which they want in order for such claims to be made by the President.

Bush’s assertions on Iraqi weapons stashes have not been found decisively wrong, & some have been confirmed. Missiles in violation of the rules have been found. Components of bio & chem weapons programs have been found. Saddam was positioned to have capacity for bio & chem weapons up & ready in relatively short periods of time. Recently, new evidence of the smuggling of nuclear equipment out of Iraq has been found in Europe. Iraq is a big country. Weapons stashes can be relatively small though, perhaps, not so small as leftist brains. Saddam’s patterns of behavior were well established.

Lee from MooreWatch nails SpongeMike on this. Mike Wilson also makes some very interesting points about it.

Moore is just selling another book or movie. I finally saw "Bowling". It was actually well done, if you as the viewer didn't know anything at all about anything -- which is who Moore plays to. Who cares what anything is? It's all Bush's fault, or some other White Male's, to be announced, perhaps George Washington's.

Quentin George,

Oh Mikey, . . .add your weight to the Democrat cause.

Not sure if this pun was intentional, but I like it just the same.

Yeah, it was a fat joke.

As a represntative of the American Council of Fat Men, I insist that you cease calling Michael Moore fat. It's insensitive.

No, not that you're saying "fat"; we're mature enough to handle that simple description. What's insensitve is that calling Moore fat reminds us that we have a physical attribute in common with him.
