UNILATERAL INVASION

Having already stormed the US, Holden’s Monaro is now invading the UK.

Hold out for the 380bhp version.

Great specs... Now if just didn't look like yet another genericjellybeansnoozer.

Any word on the Holden Calais crossing the pond as well?
Doesn't really matter I guess...I'm holding out for the Nissan Skyline GT-R.

The hell with these modern "muscle cars", they're all weak. Gimme a '68 GTO with a blown 450 any day...

Dunno about "taking the US by storm" Tim

Lows: Iffy build quality, tiny trunk, styling that makes you say, "So what?"

Iffy Build Quality sounds like a bit of a deterrent to me.

mojo, you do realize that, without exception, the "modern" Muscle Cars blow the doors off the old classics?

"Great specs... Now if just didn't look like yet another genericjellybeansnoozer. """"

It seems that most people forget these days that the muscle cars of old (GTOs, Chevelle SSs, etc.) were simply the genericjellybeansnoozers of their day with huge engines stuffed in them. In this respect, I'd say this modern GTO is a more faithful modern interpretation of the classic muscle car because of the styling, not in spite of it. That it can also stop and steer (unlike its 60's bretheren) is a big bonus. I will say this, though; I've always hated GM, but the GTO and especially the Caddilac CTS-v have made me take notice. I'll see if they can inject some life into the ranks of their more affordable cars in the future before I give up my car (a 15 year old Volvo. Shut UP.)

"Iffy build quality" ??

Holden is still applying it's usual quality standards of many years.

PS - it appears that some suits in Ford US are second guessing themselves in thinking that US design is the best.

Latest "Wheels" magazine here in Oz has an article on Falcon XR6 Turbo doing the rounds. Appears Joe Public may know what they like - as against what Ford execs thinks Joe public likes.

Hey, I never liked muscle cars either. I'm more the '53 DeSoto type.
