DONATION UPDATE

Just like that, readers have already donated $US250 (update -- now $US453) via PayPal to this education appeal for the young children of Staff Sergeant James Cawley, killed last year in Iraq. Hundreds more were sent to the appeal’s mailing address, which you can find at the link. Much thanks to all.

I mentioned in an email to a few donors that this appeal particularly resonated with me, since my own father died when I was five, and my sister only three. Beats me how our mother managed to put us both through school.

You can read more about James Cawley here. Sounds like he was our type of guy.

Part of your plan to fatten his kids up so you can eat them like Sharon with a side order of plastic turkey in the longest lunch the world has ever witnessed with wine of course and you are dead wrong dead I say and how much commission are you taking...

Nice work Tim.

Like I said before he took it down yesterday:

minus the usual commission of course.

go hang yourself veranda/miranda. it's a fund for man's children, you laughing hyena.

Your earlier comment hasn't been removed, Miranda. I've left it there as a permanent reminder of your sweet and loving nature.

As for my "commission", I'm donating $US50. Care to match that, Miranda?

Well, I see why Smearanda's really mad -- dig him/her-it asking for a handout here. Typical dole slug.

Miranda, you dumb, sorry bitch.

Good on you Tim, I can spare fifty dollars.

Miranda is a taker not a giver.

Posted by: Gary at February 27, 2004 at 01:51 PM

How can you say that, she regularly gives everyone the shits

Posted by: Johnny Wishbone at February 27, 2004 at 07:31 PM

She certainly gives me a reason to believe in euthanasia.

If Miranda Divide is a pseudonym, Ms. Divide, just remember that anonymity on the Internet is pretty superficial, and that anyone who *really* wants to know who you are can probably find out. So if you have real reasons to keep your identity hidden, well, don't count on it.

Thank you, Tim, for linking to the story and you and your readers' generosity. SSgt Cawley seems to have been an outstanding Marine, and one heck of a husband and Dad. What was a wonderful tribute his Department posted!

Each and every casket, moving so solemnly onto the tarmac, tears at one's heart. But handing that folded Old Glory to a widow at graveside, while she struggles to be so brave for her guy that one last time, and then thanking her for her husband's service to our country...there are no words to describe the anguish one feels. So you just say 'thank you'.

I may be the liberal bane of Mr. Bingley and Crusader's lives (actually, they secretly adore me), but I spent 12 1/2 years as an active duty United States Marine (have been married to one for 22+ years), and they have been the best, most supportive brothers in the whole world. Our family wears the eagle, globe and anchor pinned to their hearts, I think. We've an unbroken line of Marines in every generation since the turn of the century ~ what touches one Jarhead touches us all, whether we served or not.

It's comforting to know that there are folks who appreciate what Leathernecks (and their brothers-in-arms) do, and then step in to help when something goes so terribly wrong ~ you can't imagine what such a response means to the whole Marine family. It's the exclamation point after ooh rah! and the shine on the motto.

Semper Fidelis, SSgt Cawley.

Miranda, the drugs are not expanding your consciousness. They're making you stupider every day.

Gee, Tim, didn't peg you as a Mormon.

Yeah, Tim! Don't you know Mormons eat babies? (WTF, Mork? Marie Osmond had you banned from her property or something?)
