PINKY GREENIE WILKIE

Andrew Wilkie, formerly described as “no bleeding-heart leftie”, now is, having joined the Greens. Andrew Norton explains Wilkie's decision.

UPDATE. Back in March, commenter “Bulvie33” posted this at Gareth Parker’s site:

Before Mr Wilkie had risen to the office of military intelligence, he was concerned with inteligence of a different sort. In 1987 he was a Lieutenant in the Australian Army at Singleton in N.S.W. Performing the duties of I.E.T (Initial Entrance Training) Officer as a platoon commander in the infantry training section.

He was little use to us then, much as he is now and by military statutes is required to retire at about this time. So it is no surprise that he is trying to seek as much attention as possible, as is concurrent with his personality traits as a military officer. This was purely a politically motivated stunt based on his left wing views and his unfortunate disposition of hoping to gain entrance to the realm of politics.

Andrew Norton's theory about lefties being unhappier than righties is interesting but I think he's wrong. The left right divide is essentially a power/powerless mindset divide.

Right mindset: "Bad things happen all the time but that's no reason to give up, I can make it if I try, the future is what I make it. I will expect the best and plan for the worst, sooner or later hard work and determination pays off and, even if they don't, hard work and determination are noble qualities virtuous in their own right. It's hard getting ahead but it can be done, so what's your excuse? Shut up and fix your own problems, I have enough of my own. I hate fucking freeloaders."

Left mindset: "I'll never amount to anything. It's so unfair, since I'm much smarter than everyone else, but the world is run by stupid and coarse exploiters who got rich from stealing my hopes and dreams, (though I'm not sure exactly how the stupid yet cunning bastards pulled it off). Since I can never influence the world one way or the other I may as well give up and take comfort in believing any silly nonsense that makes me feel better, it's not like it makes a difference. Plus from the sideline I can endlessly complain about people who actually go out and do things, quietly hating them and longing to see them fail. I will ofset my feelings of inferiority by constantly sneering. No matter how many times I fail, I will never, ever change my mind."

A lefty has a vested interest in boosting any system that siphons off money from productive people into the public trough where he or she will have a shot at stealing it. Hence they're very big on 'compassion', ie the subsidy of losers like themselves through statist force.

Righties tend to think that if the government and assorted busybodies just pissed off and left them alone they'd do just fine. Also they tend to believe that people should take responsibility for themselves and taking money for nothing is shameful.

It's a empowerment/powerless divide I think, and it's mostly an issure of confidence and mental stength. Hence a broke-ass righty tends to be more cheerful than a winging millionair fuckwad like Adams. The righty feels he has a future, Adams knows he'll be fat and useless until the day a dozen sweating bearers stagger to the herse with his extra-kingsize gold-plated coffin.

Sounds unhappier to me.

When Adams dies, I suggest they save themselves a lot of trouble by just leaving his bloated rotting corpse where it is and renaming it Mt. Fucktard

Well said, Razor.

Did he get shouted at by an NCO in his training, and is now rebelling against the nasty authority figures?

Wilkie is the worst type of ex military dickhead, he bites the hand that fed him.

Six months ago (on some blog) - I predicted Wilkie would go for Greens preselection. Not that anyone needed a crystal ball to predict it - his incoherence, ill-informed rants, and pandering to anti-war stupidity were an automatic qualification.
