I HAVE A SCHEME

Jesse thinks he’s Jeebus:

ABC7's Rob Johnson asked Reverend Jackson why he felt like so much verbal venom was aimed in his direction.

"They lashed out at Dr. King, they lashed out at Nelson Mandela, they lashed out at Jesus, so all of those who fight for change become the object of frustration," said Rev. Jesse Jackson.

The headline is a lift from Mort Sahl, who also described Jackson as “a man of the cloth ... cashmere.”

I know Jesus...and you, Mr. Jackson, are no Jesus!

I have a theory about politics. The side that is funny is the side that is winning. Mort Sahl made his career in the 50's as a nightclub performer. His shtick was to go on stage with that days newspaper and comment on the news. He was hilarious, he was liberal and he was a sign of the times. JFK won election a few years later.

Comment on the news, often in a funny way is what Rush Limbaugh does on the radio every weekday for three hours. All the funny stuff comes from the right or is non-political: Dave Barry, PJ O'Rourke, Christopher Buckley, etc. Who's a funny liberal? Al Franken, who was never that funny on Saturday Night Live, has given up humor, to become a liberal scold. Michael Moore is only funny, unintentionally. Ann Coulter, Moore's opposite in every way, can be hilarious, but is always in good cheer.

The right is winning and laughing all the way.

If Jesse thinks he deserves to be nailed to a cross, who are we to argue otherwise?
