NEWS ABOUT CONCEALED WEAPONS CONCEALED

David Kay’s interim report on Iraq’s concealed WMD was filed after only about 8% of weapons storage areas was searched (which is much less, obviously, than 8% of total areas within Iraq where evidence of WMD may be hidden). Yet the search seems to have turned up more than 8% worth of proof that Saddam had it goin’ on with the biological and chemical weapons. As Kay tells Fox News, “This is information that, had it been available last year, would have been headline news.”

In other headline-worthy information, James Lileks has the best line yet on the Rush Limbaugh drug controversy:

I am also sure that upon hearing the news, Al Franken spronged sufficient wood to knock the table over.

Anyone who thinks Limbaugh has been totin' around a Hillbilly Heroin Monkey while playing golf and doing 15 hours of topical radio a week just doesn't know much about drugs.

Actually Tim, the despised Guardian got it right with their splash on Friday:

100,000 troops, 10,000 dead, 1 vial of botulinum

That about sums it up dontchya think? Farce away my pretties, with your empty words.

Was the Guardian referring to (only one of) Saddam's mass graves with its "10,000 dead"?

According to Red Crescent, about 150 Iraqis were killed in Baghdad from the start of the coalition campaign until the fall of the regime. Baghdad is only one city but it does help to keep it in perspective.

Tim,
Had Blix found what Kay has--secreted labs, hemmoraghic fever, buried MiGs, undeclared missiles--it would have been deemed the "smoking gun" in our splenetic media. Postbellum, the standards for "breach of UN Sanctions" have changed.

MD, It is evident that you have neither spoken with a Kurdish or Shia Iraqi, nor do you care to.
As regular commerce between Iraq and the outside world escalates, Iraqis will encounter delusional hypocrites such as yourself. It is my fervent hope you openly reveal your wish that the coalition had left Saddam alone. The ensuing shoe-pounding you will incur would be heaven to watch.

Are you so ignorant, unaware of the many prisoners tortured? The rapes? The baby-killing? The men cloistered in tiny "hiding places" to escape Saddam?

You care not a whit, do you? Are you even human?

I guess they'll say that if we let the inspections run longer they'd have been able to find this without, and the WMD problem would either be solved peacefully or with a non-"unilateral" war.

I have a suspicion that the timing of going to war was influenced by wanting to finish major combat operations before the Harsh Iraqi Summer (tm) kicked in. Not something to fault America for, just indicating that things may have been different otherwise.

Never trust anything from Miranda Devide, master of empty (and ill-researched) words.

Bleedin' Heart,

I don't think it's a human nonhuman thing with Miranda and her ilk. It's just that she doesn't mind if thousands of people die so long as George Bush, the US, western democracy, and supporters come out on the losing end. I suspect she's human, she just doesn't have a soul or a conscience.

Oh yeah, and that vial of deadly toxin? It's been sitting in a fridge for ten years.

And about those hundreds of stinger missiles that have gone missing in Iraq.

Where was Uncle Sam when Saddam was gassing Kurds? Oh, that's right, he was arming the Butcher of Baghdad with US-made Stinger missiles... and the rest.

Do keep your speculation on my soul and/or conscience to your itty-bitty selves, you bunch of self-righteous hypocrites.

Divide,

And about those hundreds of stinger missiles that have gone missing in Iraq.

Most of the anti-aircraft missiles were Russian made. The only mention of American stingers in the article was of America supplying the anti-Soviet resistance in Afghanistan.

Where was Uncle Sam when Saddam was gassing Kurds? Oh, that's right, he was arming the Butcher of Baghdad with US-made Stinger missiles... and the rest.

The web page linked to with "that's right" doesn't even mention the word stinger, and the only mention of the words missile or missiles were in the context of China, the USSR or France selling them to Iraq.

Do keep your speculation on my soul and/or conscience to your itty-bitty selves, you bunch of self-righteous hypocrites.

I'll content myself with speculating on your mendacity.
