SIR LES STORMS CANBERRA

Clearly motivated by his strong early showing in this week’s poll, Barry Humphries has made a pre-emptive bid for the job of Governor-General.

there's an even better story about Sir Les in the Canberra Times - it captures the full range of his magnificent spitting, belching and dribbling performance yesterday

Sir Les is the man for the job.No skeletons in the closet to be dragged out in order to satisfy the perverted sense of pleasure of the chattering classes.Elevation to G.G.Aust. would complete a distinguished diplomatic career culminating in his appointment to the Court of St.James.

The payroll should be generously increased to ensure a bevy of secretaries.

The merits of the nomination cover the pages of a smal tomb but the following is suggested as a tantalising glimpse of what Sir Les installed at Yarralumla might hold. The politically correct would be twitted outright. Femo-nazis, Greens, other ratbags, frothing at the mouth, oozing more spittle than Les in his long life, would be a sight worth paying for.The nanny police would break down in uncrollable fits of hysteria, during some of their frequent group therapy sessions: the cigars, cigarettes, scotch, cognac, beer, wine ; nearly two decades of ugly moralising from unctious prats overthrown in a single day.

Anyone entertaining any doubt about the nomination of Sir Les to the number one job, one hopes the above dispels it.

Just don't put beans on the GG's menu, for pity's sake!

The local bodgy Austereo station here in Canberra even ran grabs of Sir Les in the news this morning - the second story mind you. I suspect the news chicky has no idea its a joke.

Hmm, I was worried as to whether Barry Humphries would be a good idea...but the idea of Sir Les as GG is just too funny to resist.

Besides, in his Dame Edna Guise, Barry is one of the most famous and well liked Australians right now. Which would make him a really good figurehead (which is what the GG is, right?)
