WELCOME ABOARD
British journalist Melanie Phillips has joined the world of blog. People named “Cook” and “Campbell” may regret her decision:
It is now quite clear that Robin Cook and Menzies Campbell have simply lost the capacity for rational thought. Cook says the Iraq Survey Group has told us that Saddam did not have any WMD and posed no threat to us; Campbell says it now looks more likely that Tony Blair went to war on a 'flawed prospectus'.
Those idiots dealt with, Phillips delivers this conclusion on the ISG’s interim report:
Will the anti-war lobby now eat humble pie and admit they were utterly, totally, malevolently wrong? Not likely. For what the Iraq row has revealed is that our society now has a big problem with truth, logic and rationality. Faced with facts and evidence, it either denies them or draws from them instead the most perverse and irrational conclusions. The Iraq war is the defining event of our time, and illustrates with terrifying clarity how much of Britain has succumbed to a flight from reason itself.
One to add to the links, wouldn’t you say?
Posted by Tim Blair at October 6, 2003 02:57 AMPhillips 'anti-war lobby who were totally and malevolently wromg' includes the fanilies of British servicemen who died in the Iraq campaign. The families are trying to prevent Tony Blair's attendance at the memorial service at St Pauls cathedral next Friday. They regard him a war criminal, see attached. Will Fhillips be there? Who is her real constituency?

(We could offer the Margot in exchange.)
Phillips can punch. Her piece on palestinians and Israel cuts right through the acid of delusions about a plestinian state.She makes fair comment on the settlements.Pointing up,at bottom rests a hatred for the Jewish people, to which Europe is blind.. no not altogether as a recent article in the Spectator laid bare.

Well I guess it's mine. My brother-in-law, a former flatmate, and an old army friend all served in Iraq, and their families all supported the war. In fact, said brother-in-law sent an SMS message on the eve of war.
It read simply;
"f%^& the protestors."
Yet more political righteousness in a world drowning in bloated, blow-hard opinion? Don't we get enough bilge out of tim's cut-and-paste blogmire?
