BLOG V MAGAZINE

Stefan Sharkansky is involved in some kind of legal feud with Michelle Endacott, managing editor of Australia’s New Idea magazine. Check the comments at the end of the post.

How typical of the cultural left. If someone disagrees with them, they want the law to shut them up. Disgraceful.

I'm no expert on Australian law, but I can't see any way a common law country would have a legal issue with the website's critical comments on that stupid article. Anyone?

New Idea = Cultural Left?

And you derived that from one (syndicated) page out of the all the pages of this trashmag and out of all the issues that come out yearly?

Another typical example of the left/right bitchfest gone too far.

You're no expert on Australian law? The Bleeding obvious.

But it seems you have no idea about the Aussie media either.

Nevertheless, its another example of big publications calling out their lawyers to intimidate - most likely the legal issue here is infringement of copyright.

Sharansky's in Seattle, IIRC, and No Idea is in Sydney. Even if they were in the same jurisdiction, the only possible issue is the use of a copy of the actual magazine page.

No Idea should know better than to dig a deeper hole. If Sharansky actually receives a letter, it will be a cause of great amusement for all except No Idea.

And I wouldn't classify that clown Joel as part of the 'cultural Left'. He's just one of those permanent losers who attempt to gain relevance by dragging down their betters.

Geoff -- if the Joel you're referring to is the one who posted the comment on my blog about New Idea and the lawyers -- he's neither part of the cultural Left nor a loser, he was simply relaying the response he received from New Idea after he emailed to complain about their article...
