CLASS ACT
Larry Flynt can’t spell the name of his own magazine:
HUSLTER Magazine invites you to join us in prayer.
On Tuesday, August 5th at 12:45pm, we have organized a special gathering to pray to God for Fox News Channel blowhard Bill O'Reilly's death.
The service will be held in Los Angeles at Cornerstone Plaza, 1990 S. Bundy Drive. Located on the corner of Bundy Drive and LaGrange Av e.
Beats me why the cultural left (if Flynt can be considered part thereof) are spooked by O’Reilly. The guy is a centrist. Loud, but a centrist.
Posted by Tim Blair at August 5, 2003 11:00 PMTim, from where many of them sit, a centrist is a fascist.
O'Reily is a terrorist (IRA/Sinn Feinn natch) supporting hypocritical arsehole. He is not a centrist in any way shape or form.

Posted by: Yobbo at August 6, 2003 at 04:17 AMI wonder if these twats ever prayed for the death of Saddam Hussein?
Posted by: Toryhere at August 6, 2003 at 10:05 AMThe guy is a centrist. Loud, but a centrist.
Calling him a centrist implies a greater coherence to his views than I think is the case.
I think his opinions are a real mish-mash: I think the dominant aspects are catholic conservatism and blue collar populism.
But they're all LOUD.
Posted by: Mork at August 6, 2003 at 11:02 AMThe only reason I ever pay any attention whatsoever to O'Reilly is that he absolutely infuriates the Loony Left. They get so mad they can't even spit. Even when I agree with them (and I do, ever so occasionally) it's still fun to watch them implode. Watching the Al Franken meltdown was the next best thing to Paradise. Anyone got the tape of that?
Posted by: JorgXMcKie at August 6, 2003 at 11:20 AMI don't know who O'Reilly is, but it's a wonderful prayer and could be adapted for use here in Australia, as compulsory in all schools, since it fits any religion. Just insert any one of the folllowing names: David Marr, Margot Kingston, Philip Adams for O'Reilly.
Posted by: Rob (No 1) at August 6, 2003 at 12:54 PMOr, Rob, how about Bolt, Henderson, Ackerman, Laws, Jonesy, Shanahan, Saluzinsky, Blair, Warby, McGuiness, Price, Mitchell, Zemenak, Hinch, Moore,
Pearson, Pandopolous, Flint, Parkinson, Albrechtsen, Sheehan, Arndt and Devine, those acolytes of the apoplectic, apocalyptic Right?
It seems Australia is a little top heavy with Bush apologists at the moment, would you not agree, but death is just to good for them. There is an inherent contradiction involved in praying for death which I find to be intellectually unstable and anyway, it will be far more fun watching this vacuum of 'commentators' worm their way out of trouble come the inevitable collapse of capitalism and the true democracy that might follow. The delusional elitists mentioned here are NOT the 'friends of the poeple' they so disingenuously claim to be; they are liars. Either that, or they are plain thick. Either way, they are beholden to vested interests and cannot, repeat cannot be trusted to give an objective view. Do not be fooled. They are in it for the money; intellectual rigour is not their strong suit. I shall leave you now so that you may get all smug over having raised another Leftie's ire, but be warned; the tables will turn, and when they do, we will...forgive you. How deeply humiliating for you all.
No Elroy, it runs the other way - socialism and communism has failed miserably and the triumphant capitalist West are allowing the failures to enter the fold. So fuck off back to your little imaginary world while people like me who actually create jobs (yes two new ones in the last twelve months) and wealth and all the goodness of capitalism get on with taking the piss out of stupid lefties like you. You idiot.
Posted by: Razor at August 6, 2003 at 06:13 PMThe only vested interests I've seen lately were the ones in yesterday's Business Encouraged post.
Posted by: pooh at August 6, 2003 at 06:37 PMLarry's website is sweet. I wonder if Heff has one too.
And O'Reilly backed the IRA, and thus, has a place in hell waiting for him right next to Hussein et al.
Posted by: Tom at August 6, 2003 at 10:26 PMB O'R is a populist/statist. His 1st reaction to any issue is, "what's the federal government doing to solve this problem?" The fact that the left in America see him as a right-wing bomb thrower has always amused me. He attacked their icons Je$$e Jack$on and Hillary! so, to them, he must be part of the VRWC. Deep thinkers they. A good reason to support Flynt's run for gov is just to hear his guttural, gurgling speeches. That would be a scream. So far his positons are: casinos everywhere, legal prostitution and legal dope. B O'R won't like much of that!
