CONCERN FOR SADDAM'S DIGNITY

The Arab News is worried:

If this is the way the Americans have dealt with the bodies of Uday and Qusay, what are they going to do with the body of Saddam if they happen to kill him?

Why, they’ll probably put nice makeup on him and display him on television in order to counter the “It’s not Saddam!” propaganda from the likes of the Arab News. But the paper is worried about others besides Saddam:

The man is known to keep many look-alikes as a means of protection.

I don’t have the statistics at hand, but I’d bet that moustache removal is a boom industry in Baghdad right now.

"...what are they going to do with the body of Saddam if they happen to kill him?"

From what I hear, he'll be starring in a remake of Weekend With Bernie, opposite Ashton Kutcher and Matthew Lillard.

Maybe they could parade a stunt double (with make-up to make him look dead) on tv.

Beret sales have got to be at an all-time low, as well...

I'd do a variation of the "our VC buddy" scene from "Full Metal Jacket" - "Why we love the sneaky, murderous bastard, really we do..."

Kill them all. Allah will know his own.

I'd *really love* to take Saddam alive and turn him over to the Iraqis. Imagine a field or stadium filled with people he tortured, then imagine placing Saddam in the middle and allowing the crowd to do what they wanted with him.

I bet they could think of excellent things to do with/to Saddam's body. Problem would be, of course, there wouldn't be much of a body left so we'd have to get fingerprints, DNA, etc. before letting the Iraqi crowd at him.

The attitude expressed by Pax shows a lack of any operational understanding of the concrete reality of how military operations are conducted (or at least military operations by the US). I haven't actually read or seen much among media types whatever their nationality that shows much knowledge, or even enough curiosity to acknowledge their ignorance and then to proceed with actually trying to gain a competent understanding. So sorry, Pax, maybe Sanchez is f**king tired with talking to ignorant nitwits, of which you seem to be one. If Pax thinks the US doesn't meet his expectation of a liberating force that can't fix their F**ked up utilities then maybe he should consider getting an engineering degree so he can provide some intelligent help instead of whining because we don't meet his expectation of Godlike status. (Or maybe volunteer for the Iraqi police force, or grab a shovel and clear the garbage out of the streets). The Iraqis aren't exactly winning the hearts and minds of US citizens with their whiny attitude. Suck it up Pax.

My sentiments exactly "Sometime." I'm really tired of hearing old "Pax" whine about how the US isn't doing things the way he thinks they should. I've wondered if he's offered his services (speaking English) to the coalition forces. I'm sure the pay is pretty good. But then he would actually be accomplishing something instead of criticizing.

How did Pax get into this...the article was written by Muhammad Al-Shibani. Salam Pax wanted the two sons humiliated and turned 'loose' to be handled by the Iraqis; that's not exactly asking for any dignity!!

I understand your confusion MommaBear. The answer is simple, "Sometime" and I are bad at posting. We should have put our comments in the section below - "FORGIVE HIM, CHARLES. HE WAS IN MOURNING." Ooops!

There have been plenty of documented incidents of macabre savagery committed by Muslims on the corpses of other Muslims they don't like. One example that comes to mind is, early in the war, when a women's dead body was dragged through the streets of some Iraqi town because she had waved at an American helicopter.

I've heard a lot of Muslims here in the U.S. say, when you mention these incidents to them, "Oh, those people aren't true Muslims, becase after all the Koran says that blah blah blah religion of peace blah blah blah etc. etc."

I've also heard it said many times by Muslims that Saddam and his vile sons are/were not true Muslims, because of the atrocities they committed.

It's amazing however, now that the sons are dead, how offended that some Muslims are that these two worthless carcasses aren't being given the proper, solemn respect they seem to think they deserve as Muslims.

Was the Arab News as put out when Al Qaeda dragged the bodies of American servicemen through the streets of Mogadisu?

I'm still pissed that George and Kramer didn't take him out when they had the chance...and he stole their parking space, too!

I read today that there are 6000 Saudi Princes. I think that is what/who the Arab News is worried about.

Do we have enough pikes for that many?

We'll have to buy some from the Chinese, but we'll make do.

What worries me now, having read Patrick Cook in The Bulletin recently, is that we could have been fooled by the crafty old Scalliwag.

Those statues they pulled down may be of his doubles!

what are they going to do with the body of Saddam if they happen to kill him?

I suggest that photos be taken of ol' Soddy in the dilapidated state that he'll no doubt be in, and have thousands of posters printed up to stick on Baghdad walls.

The man is known to keep many look-alikes as a means of protection.

Kill them too.

What if a double surrenders and they put him on trial?

"He's not Saddam, he's just a naughty boy!"
