That Lance Armstrong, who reportedly does not take performance enhancing drugs, is so much better then the riders that do take performance enhancing drugs is incredible and if true one of the great efforts in sports history.
Posted by: Amazed at July 28, 2003 at 11:14 AMYes Armstrong is a great cyclist and thoroughly deserves his win. However 'Amazed' seems to imply that all his rivals take performance enhancing drugs. Most have never failed drug tests so this implication doesn't stand scrutiny. His main Ulrich has been guilty of taking drugs, but they were recreational drugs not performance enhancing. Vinokourov, Zubeldia, Mayo and the unfortunate Beloki have not (to my knowledge) been caught taking drugs. None of the current top aussies has failed a drugs test, though none of the 7 who were in the TdF were within cooee of Lance.
Next year will be very interesting, with Armstrong, chasing 6, but a year older, Ulrich a year better, Mayo, Beloki, Vinokourov all feeling that Armstrong is only human after all, and, hopefully, aussie Cadel Evans ready throw out a serious overall challenge.
Hard to fail a drugs test when they can't test for many drugs (eg HGH, EPO). The "chemists" have always been years in front of the testers.

He's passed every test he's submitted to. Are you just another bitter Frenchman?

What's Armstrong on?
His bike!
When you spend 6-8 hours every day riding and when you ride the entire TdF course beforehand to get an idea of how it plays out, you have a huge advantage, one that world-class cyclists can't afford to give to another world-class cyclist.

How about those Aussie sprinters too.
We gotta find some climbers soon and then we will kick arse.
As for Cadel Evans - WTF are his medical advisors up to not plating his broken collar-bone?
(WTF are the Wallabies playing at making us all conquering Aussies look bad?)
