December 13, 2004
It's been five whole minutes and I have yet to receive the activation instructions.
Posted by: zefal at December 13, 2004 at 05:41 AMErr, why? When I see a note saying just "SITE ABANDONED Please visit the new site here." with no explanation, I start to suspect a site-hijack...
Posted by: Siergen at December 13, 2004 at 08:09 AMThanks for keeping us on a need to know basis about this "improvement", Tim.
Will we now have to update our spam defences ?
is it a joke ?
should i be clicking the link ?
wha ...? huh ???
Is anyone else having trouble registering as a commenter on the new site?
I keep getting an error message: "Invalid page request".
Posted by: Evil Pundit at December 13, 2004 at 01:23 PMEvilPundit: well, the site (as of this minute) already has over 200 members registered so maybe it's a problem with your connection or something? I've been doing some site tinkering too, but mostly to do with the stylesheet, nothing to do with permissions or anything that would shut down the site momentarily. Keep trying -- if you are still having trouble email me at admin-at-spleenville.com and I'll register you myself.

Posted by: Just Another Bloody Lawyer at December 13, 2004 at 02:59 PMBut this http is seared, SEARED into my memory ....
Posted by: Adriane at December 13, 2004 at 04:20 PMMy FIRST and LAST post to this site ... I saw you mug and love interest in the Sunday Telegraph yesterday ... is it a personalised numberplate on the red MX-5 ... is it P(retty) R(ed) P? 069 ... the 3 digits are self explanatory ... what's the P stand for?
You also got a plug for this Blog in the 2/3 page article, but it mentions this URL ... great timing Tim ... you better get another article written and published about you ... with your new URL featured ... I'm going there now ...
Posted by: Stevo at December 13, 2004 at 06:57 PMAndrea, I've emailed you at your gmail address, with a suggestion about the Opera browser problem on the new site.
I'll try to register again. I don't know what'sgoing on, as I'm pretty sure I'm doing things right and my connection is usually reliable.
Posted by: Evil Pundit at December 13, 2004 at 08:40 PMI've tried registering again, in both Firefox and IE, but to no avail. I still get the same error message.
I think the error message is coming from the server. I'm pretty sure my ISP doesn't use a proxy for my connection.
Sorry to give you another headache.
Posted by: Evil Pundit at December 13, 2004 at 08:46 PMI've gone and registered you. Have fun! (See your email for details.)
Posted by: Andrea Harris at December 13, 2004 at 09:48 PMHey.
I hit the link and there's nothing but a banner, some ads, a poll and a big white space. This is beginning to look like someone discovered the Internet equivalent of the velvet rope.
Posted by: Gary at December 14, 2004 at 06:12 AMI'll see your ditto and raise you another ditto.
I think there might be a few of us having the same issue as Evil Pundit when trying to register:"Invalid page request"
My normal browser is Opera, though it also happens on IE.
Posted by: madison at December 14, 2004 at 08:11 AMThe site is there. Scoll down. They are having a serious formatting issue.
I'm getting the invalid page request also. Can't log in, but went to "members" list, and my name is there, but don't seem to be registered.
Curiouser and curiouser. Maybe Andrea is winnowing out the chaff.
Posted by: rinardman at December 14, 2004 at 09:25 AM"Invalid page request" using both IE and Mozilla. No other problems accessing any other web site or any internet game.
I'll try again in a few days, but if you're convinced that the problem is on "our end", I guess I'll be just reading from now on...
Posted by: Siergen at December 14, 2004 at 09:54 AMGuys, anyone having registering problems please email me at admin-at-spleenville.com. Use a regular email address that you check often. I'll register you myself and email you the code.

Posted by: guinsPen at December 15, 2004 at 12:29 PMwhats happening to all the wonderful archives at this site? are they staying here or moving?
---------------and the downside of us having to put our emails here, others are getting them and spamming the emails with jumk (unassociated with this site I am sure)
