Obviously they failed algebra. That equation is not balanced, though they probably learned some sort of "feeling-based" algebra up there in Canada. Like Tom Lehrer said of New Math, the goal is not to get the right answer, the goal is to understand what you are doing.

And why did they dot an upper case "I"?

Posted by: lyle at December 1, 2004 at 10:27 AM

These half-wits can't even get the swastika the "right" way 'round; how they have it is a sanskrit symbol meaning enlightenment, something missing from this pack of burnt-out bulbs.

A few weeks ago there was a brief, though amicable, debate here about whether, or not, Benedict Arnold was really an American traitor or a true, albeit misguided, patriot. At times like this it seems, to me, that if Benedict Arnold should be condemned it should really be for the failure of his 1775 expedition to secure Quebec and thus annex Canada for the rebel cause. Just think of it - a Rebublic which encompassed all of North America! Magnificent!
Of course that still leaves Cuba and (to a lesser extent) Haiti, but then there are so many f-wits responsible for those f-ups, that's another story. On the other hand, the Republic would have probably gotten the Louisiana territories and Alaska for nothing. Ahh! the wisdom of hindsight!
Bottom line? The perfidious French did it! How strange that, after nearly 250 years, North Americans are just beginning to realise that that stabbing pain between their shoulder blades has a French handle on it.

Buck PHOQUE
the U.S.S.A.
War Buck

Is that a secret code, understood only by moonbats?
I'm just a ignorant, unenlightened Jesuslander so the message escapes me.

Posted by: rinardman at December 1, 2004 at 01:22 PM

Yeah, rinardman, it's secret code. I could tell ya, but then...well, you know.

Posted by: mojo at December 1, 2004 at 01:54 PM

Razor, Protest Warrior was just not organized: they have 22 members, and no designated leader in Ottawa. Another group was doing something, supposedly, but they set their meeting place for the other side of the city..not sure what that was about.

Rinardman,
Bush Phoque is basically french canadian slang for Fuck Bush. And the rest of it is pretty much franglais, and not terribly logical.

Posted by: Dr_Funk at December 1, 2004 at 01:59 PM

Rinard:

I'm a Jesuslander too but I expect the USSA would be a spoof on the USSR:

Union of Soviet Socialist Americans

Just a guess. Maybe it is a reference to Bush as Stalin or Lenin. It may be intended to relate to the U-"SS"-A...Bush is Hitler

Posted by: Tej at December 1, 2004 at 02:05 PM

Phoque is French for seal. It is pronounced like the English "fuck" - as we learned with this naughty little schoolyard ditty (excerpt):

Johnny's philosophy on life
Was carved in his desk with a butterfly knife
And though it slipped and though it stuck
He soon spelled out "Born to ..."

... "phoque" is the French word for a seal
The Eskimos eat it at every meal ...

etc.

This continued on for many more verses of swear-word innuendo. I don't know why I only remember this one.

Posted by: Crispytoast at December 1, 2004 at 02:15 PM

Thanks, Dr_Funk. The French slang "Buck" for Bush threw me. The PHOQUE I suspected.
As I've said many times: "What the phoque are those crazy canucks up to now?"

Posted by: rinardman at December 1, 2004 at 02:17 PM

And why did they dot an upper case "I"?

Maybe they're Turkish -- in that alphabet, there is a dotted uppercase I, as well as an un-dotted lowercase i.

Or maybe they're just stupid.

Don't you see? These are infiltrators! Secret Bush supporters.

As noted above, they've put a sanskrit symbol of peace, enlightment and knowledge on their sign, reminding people of Bush's hidden wisdom.

The Bush=Hitler is to remind people that like Hitler, Bush was a member of the military, is a talented artist and a charismatic leader.

Read between the lines...

Or, alternatively, it's just another meaningless "BUSH IS A NAZI" screed.

And now, I'd like to share some lyrics from my favorite singer, Miss Judy Garland. Everyone sing along!

Twas on a bright morning in Summer
When I first heard his voice spakin' low
As he said to a colleen beside him
"Who's that pretty girl milking her cow?"

Och many times often ye met me
And told me that I should be
You darling, Acushla,
A Lana Mavourneen, Asuilish machree

Purty girl, purty girl,
With no on there to show her how
The purt, purt, purty girl is now
Milking her cow

I have not the manners or graces
Of the girls in the world where ye move
And I have not their beautiful faces
But oh, I've a heart that can love

And if it please ye, I'll dress me in satin
With jewels, jewels in me brow
But och, don't be after forgettin'
Your purty girl milking her cow

Purty girl, purty cow,
I'm sure this song would have never been wrote
If the pretty girl hadda been milking her goat
But the goat wasn't feeling well anyhow
So the pretty girl was milking her cow.

Her cow, her cow...
La, la, la, la, la, la...
La, la, la la, la, la, la La, la, la, la
A purty girl milking her cow!

From the Ottowa Indymedia site: Speculations on the American response run the spectrum from one analyst’s prediction of an all out American invasion of Canada to a more restrained pin-point rescue mission of the President. Whatever course of action is decided upon all experts are in agreement that the war in Iraq has so weakened the American military that it could be some days before the United States is ready to field a large scale military response.

No need to gather the troops. Just send the NYPD in. That should be enough. There shouldn't be much trouble in Quebec. They're French, remember.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

The entire Canadian armed forces numbers less than the Metro Toronto police force. The NYS National Guard could get the job done in a weekend.

Hey, is the 10th Mountain Division deployed in Afghanistan or Iraq? Or are they chillin' at their home base in Watertown, NY? I've read that they do a strange amount of urban warfare training for a mountain division. Speculation is that they're prepared for the (admittedly unlikely) scenario of Quebec seperation causing chaos in Canada - and then it's a short jaunt for the 10th to Ottawa.

The first of the Hockey, (presumably of the obscure ice variety) posts, reminds me yet again how Canadians and New Zealanders are clones.
*They both live next to much larger more prosperous nations.
*They both speak english but with funny accents
*They both think they can teach the world how to be more compassionate and more green and more caring and sharing.
*They both have disarmed.
*They both only play one obscure sport and are hopeless at any others.
*They both tout their skill at an obscure sport to define their national identity in the absence of anything else worth commenting on.
*They are both irrelevant to most of the world and
*They both have huge chips on their shoulders about their neighbour.
Its uncanny.

Thank god there is one difference though, there is no NZ David Suzuki.

My fav. sign was the one that said ..

The reason I liked it is I'm getting bored by the BushHitler, Nazi, Stupid, Israel stuff. I'd never seen the 'Nation Of Sheep' before. Original.

Baaaaa ..

I love Canada and non-moonbat Canadians. (Half my family is from Canada and I have relatives there.) The non-moonbat Canadians detest their moonbatty compatriots as much as we do ours. Actually, they detest them more because the moonbats are in charge in Canada.

Luckily my grandparents died before Canada got too bad. It used to upset my grandmother terribly when she'd "hear from home" about all the changes taking place when the moonbats were slowly taking over.

I'd much rather be standing on the other side of the fence pointing and laughing at pseudo-intellectual Bush-hating poseurs than totally surrounded by them.

Many Canadians seem to have this image of themselves as the conscience of the world, looking down at the confused masses of the U.S.. But things here are pretty stagnant, and intelligent debate is virtually non-existent.

The fact is, as much as the average Canuck can't face up to it, we really don't contribute much to the world other than hockey players and beer.

And Mark Steyn.

P.S. As a Protest Warrior, I'm disappointed we didn't get out and ridicule some raving liberal protestors. Next time.

How come you never see HITLER=BUSH? It's always the other way around.

In mathematics there is a convention that the unknown normally stands on the left side of the equation. Thus "x = 2", not "2 = x".

In line with this "BUSH = HITLER" would be seen as telling us something about Bush - viz. he is like (or, more properly, identical to) Hitler ( the known quantity); whereas "HITLER = BUSH" would be seen as telling us something about Hitler and his similarity with the current president of the USA. Logically they are identical of course.

No, it is Indian sanskrit "Su astic" (I think it measn "well being" but am not sure) and comes in both a left-turning symbol (the old Viking sun symbol meaning "good" and "well-being") and a right-turning symbol (Hitlers version). Funny how they loathe having to speak French and hate how their navy is relentlessly salami sliced to death by idiot politicians who just have no clue how the world works), but NO WAY are we swapping palces!

The Canadian summers are OK, 34 deg C and long days, but those winters absolutely suck. And the trees are weird too. It is normal for the leaves to stay on and the bark to fall off every year. But in Canada it is all upside down, the leaves fall off and the bark stays on. Strange. The French must be to blame....

And what is this thing called snow?

Also, the Christmases are simply bizarre and unnatural. Cold and snow at Christmas? You have to be joking - the world does NOT work that way.

How the hell can you have a normal Christmas when it is not hot, with bushfires in the hills and cicadas in the trees, and lots of stone fruit, prawns and so forth.

Nope, we'll stay here. Besides, then you Americans have a place to visit as tourists where you are well liked, and which does not look anything like Massachusetts.....

But you are. Yeah, that's the calibre of all Canajuns all right. Sort of like, all Aussies are a bunch of drunken convicts. Get a grip. Stupid stuff like that I expect from left wing idiots, try to stay away from their level.

Our country is f*cked thanks to following lots of Canadas "great" social welfare programs.

Darwin - I don't think that's a swastika; just the Lousiest Pinwheel Ever.

"George Bush has done one thing for me. He's made me wish I was born American."

Any non-moonbat is welcome here anytime!!

However, if you can stand it, perhaps you could stay where you are and see how you can wrest your country away from moonbat control. The more countries that have removed their moonbats from power the better for all of us.

Posted by: Chris Josephson at December 2, 2004 at 09:13 AM

It's nigh impossible to wrestle this country from moonbat control.
To make matters worse, I work in the film industry.

I had an argument with a bunch of co-workers who argued that 'Any civilian killed by the U.S. military is one too many, there is ALWAYS another way than war. American's just love a good war.'
Trying to reason with them that 5,000 civilians killed in a 5 year war is much better than almost a million killed in a 30 year dictatorship to no avail.
Many of them believe WW2 should never have happened and that 'Europe would have sorted itself out without a war'.

This is the mentality I am dealing with, it's more like a red speck on a blue sun.

I'd rather just get out and go to a real country that still has a sense of responsibility for it's citizens, but unfortunately im taxed way too much to get out of this civil prison just yet.

I've been to America before, I went to LA for a week, and it touched my heart to see those massive America flags flying on top of the tallest buildings.
I feel more patriotism towards a country I barely really know [hollywood movies and the media doesn't count] than one I've lived and breathed in for 23 years - something is seriously wrong with my country for that to happen.

It will be a sad day when the last of New Zealands WW2 vets die, because with them they will take the last remaining respect in this country for a nation that has sacrificed so much for the world, and continues to do so while countries like mine bask in the resulting 'peace' and act like spoilt children.

Cheers guys
Dave

It's either a photoshop job or some real protesters fleeing the police asked those old dorks to hold their sign for them. I can't believe two people their age can be that numb, even if they are Canadians.

Posted by: Arty at December 2, 2004 at 09:57 AM

When I was in high school in Canada, the teachers regularly invited Greenpeace into the classrooms to provide “social education” to students. This included the following salient “facts”:
a. the USA was the root of all evil in the world,
b. Ronald Reagan was a crazed idealogue who believed in Jesus and wanted to destroy the world for the second coming,
c. the US was building a nuclear arsenal to expand its imperial rule over the world,
d. US aggression was threatening the freedom loving Sandinistas of Nicaragua without any reason,
e. Socialism was the only way to bring justice and peace to Central and South America,
f. the Soviet Union was just defending itself and was a viable alternative to the West,
g. there was just as much freedom in the Soviet Union as what we had in Canada and western Europe, and
h. Europe had nothing to fear from the USSR and had to learn to reach an accommodation with it.

I could go on. This happened repeatedly, taking the place of scheduled history and theology (I went to a Catholic school) classes. Many of the kids believed it, and why not? To a 12 year old with no other access to information, what adults taught in class must be true. This is the root and cause of much of the anti-Americanism that pervades Canadian society, sanctioned, taught and spread by the school system with the connivance of left-wing teachers who dominate it. Add to this a leftist elite with a penchant for social engineering and almost complete control of the mainstream media and what is really surprising is that it is only 50% of the population that has a negative view of the US and the Bush presidency.

Apologies for droning on, but I wanted to convey the size of the problem.

Posted by: Aaron at December 2, 2004 at 11:01 AM

A.N.,

Sounds just like an American university education which most of us here survived. These days, one could substitute "Third World multiculturalism and immigrant populations" and "Islamism" for Soviet Union.

Posted by: Tom at December 2, 2004 at 11:04 AM

Why the need to charaterize entire nations by the face of a few idiots? A.N., I also went to high school and university in Canada. And while there is no question that the education system has a serious bend to the left, I never got taught that the USSR was as free as Canada, or anything remotely that ridiculous. And when I did get taught something obviously stupid, I questioned it. So why are there so many comments here (and other blogs) about the left wing Canadians and their ridiculous views on the world. Yeah, we've got our share (more than our share) off wingnuts on the left. But there are also a few of us that have our heads on, recognize good vs. evil, have served our country, respect and appreciate what the US is trying to do to improve things ... need I go on?

We've got problems here, but I'll work from within to try and correct them. You've got your own, in Australia, in the US, everywhere else. I don't assume that all Aussies are are Latham, or that all Americans are Al Franken. Give us that same benefit of the doubt.

Or we won't let you watch the World Curling Championships next year ...

Posted by: Axeman at December 2, 2004 at 12:05 PM

A.N., I agree with your statement that "to a 12 year old with no other access to information, what adults taught in class must be true." Canadians will likely be able to watch Fox News soon, and that should be a start in educating citizens of the Great White North about their neighbors to the south.

I used to watch The National (Canada's most widely watched nightly news program) on CBC and I could hardly believe what I was seeing most of the time. They showed "debates" in the House of Commons that amounted to prolonged gang-bangs of America and all things American. They trashed our Constitution; they constantly slandered Reagan as a warmonger; they assumed that healthcare was unobtainable in the US; and so on.

Odd, the CBC simultaneously portrays us Americans as shameless, unscrupulous, uncultured, rapacious moneygrubbers; and as moralistic, religious, gullible rubes. So, which is it, CBC? Hmmmmmm?

Posted by: Butch at December 2, 2004 at 12:17 PM

As disillusionment with left politics seems to be universal, this link to an essay by Thomas Dorman has done much to explain for me the sanctimonius closed-mindedness we endure in moonbats. Written a couple of years ago, his points have become only more true.

He posits that progressive liberalism is a wolf in sheep's clothing, and that at its base is malevolence. It makes sense if you're open to a theory that liberalism is intentionally rather than ignorantly destroying Western power, with its supporters as willing dupes. Slight conspiratorial suggestion, but he makes some very good points.

Moonbats over here say and believe much the same. I wonder if we took the moonbats from one country and swapped them out for those of another one if we could tell any difference?

I've also wondered if there is a group of international moonbats that spends it time going from a protest in one country to another protest in another country. I envision this group doing nothing but making the 'protest rounds' in various countries.

One of the differences between countries seems to be the concentration of resident moonbats. Concentration where you are is probably pretty high. I'd want out too if I felt there was no way to stem the tide.

It gets VERY FRUSTRATING trying to talk to people who seem to have memorized talking points from a manual, and can't reason things out for themselves. May as well talk to a wall. At least the wall won't give you a stupid response!

I know I'd go nutz if I were totally surrounded by moonbats all day. There's just so much idiocy a person can handle!

The democrat leaning website rense is currently running a similary uninspired animation of President Bush tuning into Hitler at this url.

Yet at the same time they (US democrats) seem intent on denying that they are saying such things?

Maybe democrats who create these videos are like Werewolves, they turn into monsters on the full moon, create stupid videos; and then forget all about it the next day.

First, the Canucks would be frozen in bewilderment watching them try to twirl a lasso while reciting a line from a John Wayne movie.

Next, they'd be stunned by the impact of 300-fps .45 slugs bouncing off of their foreheads.

Last, they'd die of boredom from the inevitable Colt vs Ruger debate.

Just kidding. I'll probably give it a try myself someday (SASS shooting, not invading Canada.)

Canadian liberals sport their naivete proudly. They are making a deadly error to assume that they are immune from al Queda's murderous plans.

Thankfully, the U.S. has a leader willing to confront a global menace. History will acknowledge and thank Bush eventually, Canadian whiners notwithstanding.

Catharz - maybe you can help me. I struggle so with this. Is Bush Hitler or is he a moron? Or is he both? Are they mutually exclusive? Is there a membership pin anywhere? If he's a moron, how did he manage to "steal" two elections? What does that make all the people that he has supposedly fooled?

Problem with statments like that is that they are self defeating. You can easily get away with criticizing various policies, and probaly get reasoned argument should you offer one of your own. But generalization - moron - is harder for anyone to take seriously. It appears you can't take the time or effort to come up with anything other than the latest screed from Indymedia. C'mon, make it a challenge.

Posted by: Quentin George at December 5, 2004 at 07:33 AM

The original Catharz rant is a laff riot all right. Take this gem: "As for Bush? He clearly didn't win the election fairly first time. But thanks to his Daddy's friends intervention it wasn't even investigated."

Not investigated? Thousand of lawyers, Democrat lawsuits filed the next morning, intervention by the Supreme Courts of Florida and the U.S., endless recounts (all showing Bush on top), dangling pregnant chads (remember those?), network executives called on the carpet by the Congress: more scrutiny than we could ever have imagined.

Unbe-fucking-lievable. The poor lad's thinking's been addled by Noam Chomsky diatribes.

Posted by: Butch at December 5, 2004 at 10:40 AM

I mean, for god's sake, the desperate belief that George H W Bush (and his "buddies" - unnamed, of course) rigged the 2000 election.

If he is that powerful, why didn't he organise himself another term?

The mind boggles.
