CHEAP ROOM FOR HILTON

Charming ex-Labor Party identity Neville Hilton -- earlier mentions of him here and here -- is off to the big house:

Former Labor Party official Neville Hilton was today sentenced to four years jail for child prostitution offences.

Hilton was found guilty in September of 11 counts of obtaining benefit from child prostitution and eight counts of permitting premises to be used for child prostitution.

The 66-year-old, from the ALP Albion Park branch in NSW, quit the party last year following allegations two girls, aged 13 and 14, worked at his Southern Belle escort agency at Port Kembla.

Hey, at least he was doing something about youth unemployment.

Yet another in the long history of the ALP and child sex abuse.
What IS it with the ALP and perverts?

Here's a quote from the draft media release:
"Kim Beazley has a plan to reduce youth unemployment."

Now we know where John Kerry was getting his ideas from!

I know this is a serious matter, but I have to ask....are all public personalities named Hilton subject to sex scandals?

One has to wonder.

Hilton's lawyer is very concerned about his client's mental state as he heads off to the prison's hospital wing. It seems Hilton has deep depression.

Four years? Is that all? You can run a freaking child brothel in this state and you get off with only four years in jail?

You can run a freaking child brothel in this state and you get off with only four years in jail?

By that stage, the thirteen year old will nearly be legal!

Looks like Big Nev is heading for the Long Bay Hilton.

Pity. I thought this was the type of small business Mark Latham was trying to get along side of.

Geoff.

What are the other examples of ALP/child sex stuff?

The former Leader of the ALP Opposition in Queensland and former Federal member for Capricornia Keith Wright was convicted and sentenced for the rape of a minor.

A former deputy leader of the ALP Opposition in Queensland, Bill Darcy was also convicted of the rape of minors while he was a teacher in Queensland schools.

Mr Howard has delivered no result for the voters of [Insert name of electorate]. Our local youth unemployment rate is essentially stuck at where it was at the time of the last election. It is now [Number] per cent when 30 months ago, during the 1996 election, the local youth jobless rate was [Number] per cent.

Jeffs, are you referring to Paris Hilton or to Sydney solicitor Howard Hilton who went to jail after organizing a getoutofjailfree scam with the Prisons Minister in 1986?

I thought former Wollongong Mayor and alleged pedophile Frank Arkell used to be Labor before being independent, but I can't find any confirmation of that.

I thought that John Marsden was connected to Labor, but apparently he's got connections to lots of political parties.

While looking back at the previous posts, I noticed that I said:

Sheesh - why didn't he try "I had no knowledge that there were underage girls at the brothel." It works well enough for ministers (government, not religious) on both sides of politics.

Whoops, he did (he was already using that line by the time that post had been published - d'oh!), and it didn't work.

david, I meant Paris Hilton -- I didn't know about Howard Hilton.

Maybe the problem is more wide spread than we thought? :-)

There's something about Australians that encourages us to vote brothel owners into political office. The mayor of Kalgoorlie is a transexual 'madam'.

Personally, I can't see how someone who sells other people's sexual services for their own profit can be considered a fit and proper person to help run our country. They may not be doing anything actually illegal, but it's a dubious industry full of shady characters, and most definitely not where you find the best and most laudable of our civilisation. And under all but the strictest versions of Libertarianism, it's morally wrong. Sorry, but it is. How many people could honestly claim that they would be delighted if their daughter came home and announced that she'd found a job as a whore?

The leadership of a community calls for the best and brightest of that community. It says a lot about our society that all we get is creeps who sell sex with little girls.

At the time of the original discovery that these two girls were working at Mr Hilton's brothel it was said on Sydney local ABC radio that patronage at the brothel had increased when word had spread that they were working there

Does anyone know if Mrs.Hilton is still employed by Mark Latham at his electorate office? Not that there's anything wrong with that, just wondering.

I think former prostitutes going into politics has happened in other countries as well.

Personally, I can't see how someone who sells other people's sexual services for their own profit can be considered a fit and proper person to help run our country.

What about union officials or lawyers? :P

I'd say it'd be more the effect of something being mentioned in the news and the novelty of it being owned by a politician - I don't think the increase was from people seeking underage women.
