HELP PESTS

You may be suffering Post-Election Selection Trauma, my friend. There ain’t no cure. A group of PEST victims are meeting today in Sydney; please assist their recovery by laughing, singing, and otherwise expressing joy.

UPDATE. Pictures of the festivities here and here.

I'm thinking of going, but having trouble thinking of a good sign to bring. The ones on the Protest Warrior website are starting to look a little outdated, and not really suited to the present situation. Any suggestions for a more Battle-of-Fallujah sign?

Posted by: Jorge at November 11, 2004 at 10:33 AM

Fallujah! It's not your dad's nest-of-snakes anymore!

or

Fallujah! Just do it!

or

Fallujah "insurgents": Marine breakfast of champions

or

US Marine firepower: When it rains it pours

or

Abu al-Zarqawi: Where's the beef?

or

Fallujah! Let the Marines do the walking

Marines: We bring good things to life (and kill the bad things)

Any one of these things could apply to the Army as well, and apologies for the US centric adverts.

American radio host/satirist Phil Hendrie is currently running a bit with a character of his describing the situation at his "outreach home". The character is stating that the federal government should fully fund therapy for all the PESTD patients he's working with. It's the taxpayers' responsibility to pay for it since we elected him.

I think Phil will have quite a few callers wanting to hammer his character. It should be over the top and quite entertaining.

Just a reminder - if you want to join Protest Warrior, we're meeting at 5pm at Starbucks on George Street, Sydney near the Greater Union cinemas (just south of Town Hall). Bring a camera (video/digital preferable) or a US/Australian flag if you can.

If you've got any questions, send me an e-mail: wheels128_AT_optusnet.com.au (change the _AT_ to an @ obviously).

Oh, and Jorge -

We'll have extra signs, so if you can't bring a sign, don't worry. You can bring a US/AUS/UK/Poland flag, a camera, a friend or even just yourself.

Numbers and cameras are the two most important things.

Arafat, like King Charles II, should apologise for taking such an unconscionable time a-dying.

John Howard's comment reminds me of Margaret Thatcher's on the 200th anniversary of the French revolution, when other leaders sent in pious platitudes and spurious comments. She went to the heart of the issue immediately, saying "it took us 200 years to get rid of the effects of the French Revolution. We don't want another one".

God I miss her. But Jonny Howard seems almost as good.

Dear Lord:

I humbly thank you for the abundance of riches you have given us lately, what with the conservative election victories in Australia and the USA, and the deaths of Jim Cairns, Jacques Derrida, Arafat and thousands of terrorists in Iraq. I know you are on bit of a roll at the moment, and want to use your excellent recent form to maximum advantage, but could you please hold off on Castro, Gough Whitlam, Jimmy Carter & bin Laden until shortly before the next round of elections in Australia and the USA? In the meantime, you may wish to practise with the millions of moonbats who are probably feeling pretty suicidal at the moment, particularly Robert Fisk, who would probably sympathise with you completely if you beat him up first. And don't forget Dean Murphy from the New York Times, who needs a little reminding what it feels like to be on the receiving end of an Act of God (not that I'm suggesting anything).

Yours In Christ,
Michael

Our great radio personality Glenn Beck, in a parody interview of a reporter in Paris, noted that the rotting fish aroma around Arafat was not due to morbidity. Arafat always smelled that way. This explained the dead/alive/dead/alive/dead/alive misreporting.

Posted by: scherz at November 12, 2004 at 01:56 AM

Don't laugh about the PEST thing, it's serious. My neighbor had it bad. I was surprised when he started talking to me about the election because I knew he was a big Kerry supporter and took the loss hard. Anyway, right in the middle of telling me that their campaigners didn't work hard enough to get Kerry's message out, he buried his face in his hands and sobbed, "you bastards, you fucking bastards, you've wrecked our whole fucking country, I don't want to move to Canada..." That's when I slapped him real hard and told him I was going to broadcast Kerry's concession speech out my window for the next four years and that if he didn't like it he could wrap his big toe around the trigger of that ancient Mauser he's got. I'm figgerin' the old 'tough love' treatment is what he needs, right? Let me tell you, that's the last time I'll try my hand at amateur psychology.

On the upside, I just saw my new neighbor moving a beer fridge into his garage.

Congrats to the Aussies on having one of the only leaders with enough balls to speak about Arafat truthfully!!

Just because Arafat is dead doesn't mean we all forget what a murdering thug he was. Seems that PM Howard is the only leader with the guts to speak the truth.

Arafat was a billionaire who used the 'Palestinians' to keep on enriching his bank account. The "Palestinians" can thank Arafat for the misery they still find themselves living in. He passed up chances to make life better for the people he professed to care about.

Why anyone, except for those who became rich and powerful because of Arafat, would mourn this creep is beyond me. What did he do for the 'Palestinians' except to keep them as a 'cause' whereby he could earn power and money?

I wonder who gets the money now? His wife? His close aids? His bodyguards? I'm willing to bet the average "Palestinian" will not benefit at all by the distribution of Arafat's estimated 1.X BILLION $'s (US $'s .. do the conversion for your particular country).

The "Palestinians" should be dancing in the streets now that he has died. He did nothing for their "cause", but tell them fairy tales about the 'horrible JOOS' and let them live in poverty while he kept money that was meant to be for all the "Palestinians".

I'm sorry that the US, according to reports I've just read, is intending to send an official delegation to his funeral. Why? This man helped out nobody but himself, and did a great deal of harm.

(In case anyone is wondering, you can find estimates of Arafat's wealth in a wide variety of places, the BBC's site included.)

Arafat died of Aids, secure in the knowledge that the French would suppress the information.
Now we will have an orgy of eulogies from the western media.
But Johnny Howard is the only Western Pol who has the guts to speak the truth . Good on ya Johnny!
Arafat learnt his college KGB lessons well.
The more you oppress your own people , the more they will love you for it.
And ultimately, the Palestinians are possibly the ones who suffered most at his hands and they do not even realise it!
