HAMAS: JUST PEOPLE OF A DIFFERENT PERSUASION

The United Nations doesn't include Hamas on any terrorist list. But it does include Hamas on its payroll:

The United Nations agency that provides assistance and food aid to Palestinian refugees admits it has hired members of the terrorist group Hamas to help in its efforts.

Peter Hansen, commissioner-general of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), told the CBC he believes it likely that Hamas members receive paycheques from his organization.

"Oh I am sure that there are Hamas members on the UNRWA payroll and I don't see that as a crime. Hamas as a political organization does not mean that every member is a militant and we do not do political vetting and exclude people from one persuasion as against another," Mr. Hansen said.

No vetting. No exclusion. That's the way to make peace happen!

Hi! Interesting website.

I will tell my friend Juan Carlos about this website. He writes -in english and spanish- about international themes and loves US politics. Take a look to his strongly recommended blog (click on his name to read his articles): http://gauregun.blogspot.com

Have a nice week.

This is a pretty stupid position for the UN. Hamas is not a terrorist organization, but a political one? And the UN will hire Hamas members to help them because they don't do "political vetting"?

By this definition, they ought to be sending a retirement check to Saddam every week.

Losers and wankers.

Unless they happen to be Joos.

Hey. So that's why they didn't blow up the UN! I wonder what the UN will do when the rest of the terrorists don't see things so friendly and decide it's time to blow up the UN? I know I would be angry, because it is NYC. But would I really care about the people...well, maybe some of them. Oh shucks, I would care, but I wish I didn't!!!

that's it . relocate the UN to france.
Perhaps close to the suburb vacated by the ayatollah khomeini, whom the fench injected into Iran like a deadly virus into the country, to strangle the US influence on IRAN.
Were all those lucrative french contracts worth the terror he has spawned and now threatens all the western world?
Bandes de connards !

Hamas on the payroll-what a surprise! Come on people. Look at the UN General Assembly. A goodly percentage of the world's despots and dictators lunch there for godness sake. The UN runs at least two refugee camps that are active terrorist recruiting grounds. That has been known for years in security circles. The UN is a de facto terrorist organisation based upon their day to day actions. If the shoe fits you must convict. Good grief. No shock, awe and surprise there!

Well someone has to pay for Sufa's cosmetician and couturier

Al Qaeda is a "political organization" whose every member is not a "militant". After all, it has facilitators, money men, pols and journos in its group. Dare we ask if some unvetted people of that "persuasion" are on the UN payroll in some capacity?

Posted by: c at October 5, 2004 at 10:44 AM

Sufa's cosmetician and couturier
costs are already met by chris patten and the EU.

No tests or vetting required to to get into the UN either. They are at least consistent.
God help us all.

Well they gave the PLO observer status back when they didnt even pretend not to be terrorists. What are you all so surprised at?

Posted by: Troy at October 5, 2004 at 01:58 PM

Simple economics really. Hamas will work cheap to kill Jews. Thus far more money is available for the UN administrators’ Swiss bank accounts.

Fuck you, Rosemary, plenty UN operatives get blown up (in Iraq, thanks to the yankee war for oil), the UN do a difficult job in impossible circumstances. You guys hate them because they won't suck yankee cock. And then you wonder why everyone else wants to blow you fuckers up?

It's not often I want an entire nation to piss off and die, but piss off and die.

Oh, and you can fuck off and leave Cuba alone while you're at it.

Could somebody call Mike's mom and tell her he went online without permission and made an ass of himself? Thanks.

Mike, Rosemary is entitled to freedom of speech - for better or worse. You are also entitled so an opinion - and you have beaten Rosemary in saying something profoundly stupid.

I would suggest that you investigate the socialist paradise that is communist Cuba before insisting that the US leave it alone. Liberty and human rights must be universal - right now they are not. The US stands up and faces down tyrants and terrorists while the UN is more interested in upholding the stus quo.

Before embracing dictatorships I suggest that you come to understand what freedom really is and why those that suffered under despotism are most often the most pro-American. Case in point Eastern European states liberated from communist opression and Cuban refugees.

Whatever crushes individuality is despotism, by whatever name it may be called and whether it professes to be enforcing the will of God or the injunctions of men - John Stuart Mill (the ghosts of liberalism past is a neocon!!)

Back to the late '20s-early '30s.

"Oh I am sure that there are Nazi Party members on the League of Nations payroll and I don't see that as a crime. The Nazi Party as a political organization does not mean that every member is a militant and we do not do political vetting and exclude people from one persuasion as against another," Mr. Hansen said.

Thousands of people navigating the 90 mile stretch between Cuba and the US on old tires, leaky homemade rafts with no water and food should tell you something Mike. Free speech, postmodernist style JBB. That's all Mike is interested in.
