Posted by: Mr. Bingley at October 5, 2004 at 12:02 AMI would like to see more than the Post's assertion about 'Pocketgate' - where are the images that would allow this to be determined?
All I've seen so far is a left-handed reach to the pocket with his back to the audience, removing a [blur] and putting it on the podium.
I would like to see the [blur] resolved, one way or the other - if the Post has pictures, post them!
Best case, a minor violation of the debate rules - the debate staff should have put any pen on the podium, per the agreement. Worst case, purposeful cheating - though that seems unlikely.
Odd for a right-handed person to reach for a pen with the left hand, though - odd, but admittedly not bizarre.

Sound about right, if the pen were white, rectangular, could be unfolded, and laid out flat. I searched my office's supply catalogue for such a pen but had no success. Perhaps it's an astronaut pen.
Posted by: Tongue Boy at October 5, 2004 at 02:20 AMThe last sentence of the Bessie Bardot article is: At one base, Bardot and her fellow performers told an American soldier they were from Australia. I guess sloppy editing is not unheard of.
http://www.defence.gov.au/opcatalyst/images/gallery/270904/ for pictures of Bessie Bardot's Iraq tour. Work safe, I believe.
