I'm leaving New York tomorrow morning for the million-hour flight back to Sydney. To everybody I've met on this trip, and to everybody I didn't have time to meet, my sincere thanks. Your kindness is massively appreciated. And apologies for the 400 or so unanswered emails; I'll send replies when I'm home.

Okay, to review. Here are columns filed from Boston, Boston again, New York, Los Angeles, and Virginia. Further columns, currently subscriber-only, will become available shortly.

That should be: "Thanks y'all"

Tim! You should have come to Florida! Primo hurricane parties are going on as I type. Well, not in my apartment, but at the store today people had given up looking for more propane and ice and were just buying cases of beer.

Have a safe flight home. It'll be good to have you back.

Sorry time did not permit us to see the sights of Salt Lake City when you (and me as it turns out) were there, or even have breakfast. Let's have breakfast when you're back in Sydney and I will tell you about Albuquerque, circa 1975.

Be sure to come to Texas sometime in the near future to celebrate the re-election of W.
You can even go to Dallas and see one of the Australian imperialist invaders from Melbourne.
There are probably a few places to have a drink too.

Have a safe journey home. Enjoyed what you had to write about both conventions. I'm glad the conventions weren't disrupted by any serious problems from the protesters or terrorists.

Glad you had the chance to hear Gretchen. When she comes on the radio, I crank it up.

Thanks for coming to visit. It was fun. Reading your blog (and friends)is great but it adds a bit of zip when one has actually met the host. When your folks perfect this ( ) we should all hold our first monthly beer/wine/tequila/etc. bash.... at your house of course.
