Who is buying all those copies of Margo Kingston’s book? Possibly the deep-thinking folks at the Australian League of Rights, whose site is currently promoting Margo’s masterwork:

BOOKS FROM THE MAILING SERVICES: 'Not Happy, John' by Margo Kingston: Solicitor, lecturer in business law and political commentator, Sydney Morning Herald journalist Margo Kingston thinks its crunch time for Australia. She tells us she isn't interested in the old, out-worn left-right rhetoric, what she is interested in is the urgent need for Australians to reassert the core values that once made this nation a humane, egalitarian, liberal democracy - the core values with which she agrees. We could agree with her on many issues.

Alerted to this, ungrateful No Thappy John functionaries issued a quick disclaimer:

NHJ does not support the aims, intentions or ambitions of the League of Rights.

Really? Perhaps the NHJers shouldn’t be too hasty. On at least one subject, the League of Rights and Margo sound very similar indeed:

The Australian League of Rights continued to hold meetings, conduct campaigns and seek publicity in its organs for its anti-Semitic analysis of domestic and international affairs. In January the weekly On Target warned that "Australian Zionists" exercised "destructive influence" and were able to do so because of "their mastery of Talmudic dialectics." In February it claimed that the "global program" of US "internationalists" (which it identified as a danger to Australia) was due to "Zionist Jews," including "Madeleine Albricht [sic]," the daughter of "the Jew Josef Korbel, a senior diplomat in the Czekoslovakian government before the collapse of Communism." The June issue of the monthly New Times asserted that the Jews of Germany had destroyed German traditional culture by 1848, and then imposed their plans on the US, which included flooding the country with immigrants, so that America would be dominated by "Jews who slavishly follow the Zionist program."

Now we know where Margo gets her progressive ideas.

I have noticed that Borders has piles upon piles of these unsellable books - I hope they purchased on consignment, because it looks like there will be alot of dead tree pulping six months from now.

Robert Fisk gets a notable mention on the League of Nations web site as well.
Misery keeps poor company.

Those Zionists sure are clever. They flooded the U.S. with immigrants, the better to carry out the nefarious Zionist plan, years before there was any such ideology as Zionism.

I might say that "Zionist" is a code name for you know who (rhymes with "you know whos") but we all know that anti-Zionism isn't antisemitism. It's something else, entirely, and how dare anyone suggest a connection?

How are we supposed to tell the difference between the anti-Semitic/ anti-Israel/ pro-Palestinian/ isolationist/ fascist/ race-conscious/ paranoid/ increasingly violent/ and ideologically rabid lunatic Left and reactionary Right? Has it come to birthmarks, yet?

Maggot's a "Solicitor, lecturer in business law and political commentator..."? & still writes like that??

And here I've been describing her as a "procuror"...

My bad.

Her Yiddish family still call her Meshugana (mad) Margo.

Posted by: Lofty at August 13, 2004 at 08:53 AM

There is an irony Margo obviously hasn't appreciated: she went looking for a link between the League of Rights and John Howard and found one between herself and the League of Rights.

I guess I'm not the only one who's amazed that Margo is a Solicitor... perhaps they meant that in the US sense... Someone who comes to your door to try to sell you something and won't go away.

Well, that's one meaning of "solicit". It's often used in conjunction with prostitution....

I have LONG argued this about these bigoted bourgeoise lefties. In much the same that Dick Smith is really Pauline Hanson with a pilot's licence.

According to te latest "Spectator", former chess champion Bobby Fischer is now so barking mad he seriously believes Jews hate elephants because their trunks are uncircumcised. Has he been introduced to Margo, and where does she stand on this qwuestion?

Yes, when Margo departed the fertile fields of NORTH QUEENSLAND that the Jewish population of that region approached that of Saudi Arabia.
It is rumoured that the only way to surely retain one's job at the pommy auntie beeb was to demonstrate one's membership to an ethnic or cultural minority.
My friend posed as an Irish Gay IRA supporter, until no loger able to maintain the charade, he succombed to the Charms of a passing tea lady and was soon caught in flagantri delecti .
He was sacked shortly after for impersonating a person of minority status and tore up his Gaelic ~GAY FORTY~ TEA shirt in discuss.
Obviously Ms Kingston is posing as a minority North Queensland Jewess to avoid relagation to the ranks of the unemployed by the Silly Moaning Horror.
A couple of juicy pork chops in the canteen should soon expose the fraud.

Just about the only sensible comment that has been made in this thread. And then, its author isn't serious. How sad.

Then we've got a guy who can't keep the League of Rights and the League of Nations straight.
