MOORE SHUNNED

I made the obvious point last week that Fahrenheit 9/11 was unlikely to change the minds of anyone not already in thrall to Michael Moore:

A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll conducted July 8-11 found that only 4 percent of Republicans surveyed had seen the movie, compared with 10 percent of Democrats and independents. What's more, almost two-thirds of Republicans said they didn't want to see the movie.

Maybe Gunner Palace would have more crossover appeal, if it ever gets a US release. Or a release in Germany, for that matter.

All GIs are poor ignorant inner-city blacks who sacrifice their lives for The Man as the only way to get anywhere in a racist society, except when they're white redneck trailer trash who enjoy torturing brown people.

I thought you already knew that, Tim. That's what Michael Moore told me, anyway.

"...only 4 percent of Republicans surveyed had seen the movie, compared with 10 percent of Democrats and independents."

And yet, box office records have been smashed!!! Proof once again of how few people actually go to the movies. Mostly pre-teens and teenagers who have not yet achieved driving age. Hollywood constantly misundersestimates its influence on American culture and thought.

Actually, despite all broken records and words such as "blockbuster", the film industry has never recovered from the slump home rental caused.

The 1950s golden age will never return, and Gone with the Wind is quite safe in its inflation-adjusted position at the top of the all-time list.

Good thing the pubbies aren't the party of the rich, or Mickey'd have some (more) cash-flow problems.

He's got buckleys of flogging it to SBS an'all.

If it showed really obviously photoshopped images of GIs with babies skewered on their bayonets like nappied kebabs he'd be fighting public broadcasters off with a shitty stick.

If you look on DU, most of the F911 groupies brag about "seeing F911 for the fourth time!"
Wonder how much that would skew the "box office record", re the actual percentage of all potential American viewers.

Still, itīs hugely depressing that this crap makes over 100 mill $ in the US alone. That is about 15 million tickets, isnīt it? Donīt tell me it doesnīt make a difference. Madness.
