GET A LOOK AT AQUEZIO

Posted by Tim Blair at July 6, 2004 01:57 PMIn the new Warner Home Video release of the 1964 classic animated TV series "Jonny Quest," there appears to be some politically-correct editing afoot -- but although they cut a Race Bannon reference to "ignorant savages" and "heathen monkeys," they forgot to delete the closed caption version of the dialog!
Does the intro still have those Africans throwing spears at the Quest plane?
Posted by: Sortelli at July 6, 2004 at 02:07 PMThey also cut out all the mansex. Kinda wish they'd have mentioned that on the cover before I bought it!
Posted by: Jim Treacher at July 6, 2004 at 02:18 PMMan, they PC'd Race Bannon! What a bummer. "Johnny Quest" was a great cartoon!
What other childhood icons will these heathen monkeys mess with?
Posted by: The Real JeffS at July 6, 2004 at 02:23 PMINFIDELS! DOGS!
They have defiled the Holy of Holies, almost as much as those bastards who did that godawful second series with the Batman-style villains and that execrable female.
I'm declaring a fatwa.

What kind of fucked-up world do we live in when only the deaf are allowed to hate?
I'm so pissed, I'm going to walk up to the first deaf person I see and randomly wiggle my fingers around until I "sign" something insulting.

Posted by: Terry at July 7, 2004 at 01:58 AMJQ:TOS was the only product of the Hanna-Barbera crap factory which I enjoyed watching, when I was a child, mostly because it was the only Saturday morning cartoon which regularly featured realistically drawn violent death. Nobody ran off a cliff and hung in mid-air holding up a sign which said, "Oh, no!" in Jonny's world.
And now a bunch of busybodies want to deface a classic. There will have to be a reckoning some day, I am getting tired of these pests.
