BRING ON 2005
The latest poll of Iraqi opinion is notable for its optimism:
What is your expectation for how things overall in your life will be in a year from now? Will they be much better, somewhat better, about the same, somewhat worse or much worse?
Much better
27.4%
Somewhat better
36.6%
About the same
17.5%
Somewhat worse
12.7%
Much worse
5.9%
Nice numbers. Bet it doesn’t get the attention an earlier poll received. Meanwhile, The Guardian editorialises about Saddam in court:
The real trial lies ahead
Well, yes. Saddam's appearance was a pre-trial charges hearing. The Guardian has finally got something right.

Posted by Tim Blair at July 3, 2004 02:41 AMI guess the Baathists make up approximately 6% of the Iraqi population?
Posted by: JohnO at July 3, 2004 at 02:54 AMIn 5 years when a stable Iraq is in the air and GWB is preparing to finalize a middle east peace I will raise a toast to all who fought for freedom and peace and then without smarm I will make a case that the anti-war movement does not deserve to complain for the next 2 wars, and then I shall drink.
Posted by: JBB at July 3, 2004 at 03:23 AMWait that sounded odd, when there is a stable Iraq with peace in the air (well there but obviously not for the WoT), anyway good news and it shows that we are on an upward gradient, these terrorist scum think they can win like the VC, they are wrong because they do not have the support of the people and that is why the true winners in Iraq will be the Iraqi people and the true losers will be Terrorists.

Yeah, but it was by accident.
Yes, but if Saddam were in power, 100% would have said "much better". Bring Back Saddam!!
OMG I've got it. The left think Saddam is Al Gore! And they were warned not to eat the brown acid... See what drug use does to your brain???
