NEWS BRIEFLETS (UPDATED)

• Evil Fox News must be defeated! (UPDATE: More Fox evil. Not work safe. Via Dave Barry, who has only a partial work safety rating himself).

• Don’t miss out on the global Vegemite airlift. Eat it, and become as one with us.

• Lamborghini for sale. Only 121 miles. Interior: black. Exterior: black. Asking just $2500. (Via Bargarz.)

• Fans of Spinal Tap might be distressed to read this. So might a lot of people, actually.

• Your Normblog profile this week is Scott Wickstein.

• "He's known as 'Dirty Harry,'" reports the Daily Mirror. "This guy has got one of the worst jobs in the world."

• John Podhoretz on the Bush-haters: "They're full of vim and vigor. They can taste victory in November, and they're practically bubbling over. And they're in danger of burning out big-time."

• Saddam Hussein: defiant anti-hero!

• Margo Kingston has lost her Sun-Herald column.

• Webber in a Williams at Silverstone? Excellent.

• A reader writes: "Check out John Howard’s latest devious ploy: he wants to give Labor MPs in marginal seats a leg-up against their coalition opponents! Do the machinations of this evil genius know no end?"

Fox is Evil!!

Just like the liberal media - no one listens to them anymore so they have to blame everyone else.

You thought the Australian Senate was a sinecure for either parties' nepotists to live high on the thinly accountable hog and thumb their publicly-funded noses at the (usually below average wage) taxpayers? Read this and weep at the legislated corruption called Taxpayer Largesse..

I tell you, that Loewenstein character looks like something they found under a pile of newspapers on a park bench. I'm no feast for the eyes myself (tending toward the Michael Moore look, frankly -- less beard, though), but couldn't they at least get him to shave? And those devil-eyes don't help matters any. I guess there's an important Crazed-Australian constituency to be wooed.

[This is in reference to Margo's column, for those of you who are lost.]

That video is a hoot. I'll never forget Peter Jennings getting in his shots at the Reagan funeral about Newt Gingrich, saying the former president wouldn't have approved of Gingrich's "tone" and what he brought to Washington. What a ridiculous video. I just knew Cohen had to be a part of it. He would rant about how "conservative" the New York Times was when he was on the air.

KNEEL before the Evil Lord of All Media!

RU-PERT! RU-PERT! RU-PERT!

Yep, that Loewenstein guy is a true character...

"Antony Loewenstein (...) reckons it's not always easy being an Australian trapped in a universalist's body, especially when you've got a penchant for dissent."

I wonder if he blames Howard for trapping him in that darned universalist's body.

The Margit's offsiders look like a couple of winners. How bad are you going when you pin your colours to the mast of the SS Titanic, oups I mean SS Webdairy.

I like the way these guys have to say that they are proud Aussies but also want to be internationalist.

That seems to me to be leftiod code for "I hate Australia, but I won't admit it".

Fairfax have canned the sunday article because they could afford to lose the advertising revenue, having the Margit flog the comic 5 days a week is bad enough.

Lets hope they all mix up a big jug of old Jonesy Koolaid for the federal election, because when the Coalition wins, they will need a stiff drink.

How about Margo's photo? It looks suspiciously like the chairs at Parliament house (embossed crest). Gee, she even cracks a smile, though I'm not sure that all she's crackin'. I can imagine the photo session:

C'mon love, toss yer hair, yeah, yeah, lovly, lovly, your'e a bird, you're a happy refugee, thats it, smile, uh, I think we'll leave it there eh love?

Lowenstein's devil eyes look like that horror movie released a few months back, where people were infected with "rage" and turned into slobbering, murderous beasts, devoid of any humanity and intelligence...

The "proud Aussie but I want to be an internationalist" really means: I'm too old to get a working visa in the UK, I couldn't stand to go backpacking again and despite my best efforts in online chat rooms I still can't get an US girlfriend...

Posted by: Junia at July 3, 2004 at 12:24 PM

I dunno Tim....if you ship Vegemite north of the equator, will it still taste the same; or will the Coriolis force make it spin the wrong way and taste like sh!t?

Posted by: rinardman at July 3, 2004 at 01:53 PM

Re Margo's photo: is she squatting on that chair? Because if she is, I'd advise caution for the next seatee: this girl doesn't flush, you know...

Is just me or does Jack Robertson's list of jobs shout out 'can't hold done a job'?

Posted by: Just Another Bloody Lawyer at July 3, 2004 at 04:32 PM

"slightly used"

Thats some funny shit!!

Posted by: Matt T at July 3, 2004 at 06:37 PM

Nice example of redeye in Antony Loewenstein's photo at margo's book site!
Jack Robertson seems to have done everythink for someone his age! I wonder how good he could be at anything.

That wasn't a horror movie, those were clips of people attending the world premiere of Fahrenheit 9/11...

Actually, when I look at the pictures, I wish mine was included but I am too busy living out the reality of my universalist lifestyle - also stuck in an Australian body
