EVIDENCE SUPPLIED

Did the Melbourne Blogger Bash really happen? My memory is a little hazy, but here’s some photographic proof. Other quick news:

• Glenn Reynolds reviews Bush’s press conference and rounds up online opinion; the Wogblogger says Bush was “on song and not taking a step back”;

• Blogger Scott Burgess takes on the BBC -- and the BBC replies;

• And Miss USA rocks.

I, for one, consider my pro-liberation position now totally justified. You simply cannot argue with the figures... wa-hey!

Miss USA

That hot, single AND a Republican? Too good to be true. She also has the perfect body, I say she's a cyborg or something.

She has to be stopped!

That Bloggerbash looks more like LUNCH...Were the pints PLASTIC?

Posted by: JDB at April 14, 2004 at 02:39 PM

So who nailed the sister?

Posted by: anon at April 14, 2004 at 03:31 PM

Do any readers ever turn up to these bashes?

Surely not all of those 7000 hits a day can be tea totalers?

I might come along to the next one to drink a couple of those wussy libertarians under the table.

Libertarians....they sh*t me.

Boy am I glad my wife isn't interested in reading these boring political blogs.

Now, if we can just find a Miss Australia. . .

Posted by: Razor at April 14, 2004 at 04:02 PM

I'm one hit. And I'm a total tea-er.

Posted by: Tony.T at April 14, 2004 at 04:05 PM

1.8 meters, that’s just a pinch beneath 5 feet 11 inches. Tall drink of Republican honey.

The only thing conservative in those photos was that chick's usage of a bra.

God bless sluts.

Well, I (a lowly reader) turned up at the blogger bash, and had a great time drinking and talking - though mainly about motorbikes to Tex and Tim. Pity I had to leave about 11pm, though, as I was slowly working my way through all the beers available at the venue. Definitely no plastic drinkware!!

Yes, we get a few readers. It's always nice when they do show up.

BTW, more photos of Tim are here.

A paragraph from The Miss USA story:

During the final question category, she was asked what serves her better in life - experience or education. She immediately chose the former, saying "You can have all the book knowledge in the world, but to have the knowledge from experience. ... I think that teaches you more knowledge than anything you could possibly read in a book."

Anyone else suspect that the ellipses was strategically added to maker her use of the word "knowledge" sound even more repetitive? I wonder why...

Warning! Warning! The SMH's printer-friendly version of the Miss USA story does not include the picture!

Posted by: Hal Colebatch at April 14, 2004 at 09:11 PM

Correction: make that ellipsis.

Miss USA versus Janene Garafalo and Rosie O'Donnell - it's no contest as to which part of the political spectrum one should go to find the hot chicks.

Posted by: Dave T. at April 14, 2004 at 11:31 PM

What? No talk of world peace? What next? The case for tougher penalties for parole violators?

Posted by: Andjam at April 14, 2004 at 11:50 PM

So the quote from Miss USA is, "what needed to be done had to be done." She is attractive and all, but not the brightest, since that quote is pure circularity and doesn't actually have any meaning... yes, in general what needs to be done has to be done, as in , I need to finish an essay ergo I have to finish an essay...

"I saw her just above the horizon, decorating and cheering the elevated sphere she just began to move in,—glittering like the morning-star, full of life, and splendour, and joy ... I thought ten thousand swords must have leaped from their scabbards to avenge even a look that threatened her with insult..." - Edmund Burke

Be warned, "Ed Tau"!!!!

"While it is interesting to speculate on methodological issues - most of which are irrelevant - wouldn't it be more useful to consider the meaning of the results."

This is what BBC editor Jeremy Neye posted in response to some of the comments on Scot Burgess' site regarding a critique of the methodology used, and possibly used, in a BBC online poll which showed that the U.S., and big corporations, are considered a bigger threat to the world by the respondents than terrorism.

His comment, above, is typical of the fact that Liberals have no apparent mind. It's otherwise impossible to make a statement like that.

Regarding Miss U.S.A., she appears protein-wasted. Her thighs are scrawny and it looks like she has no butt. How do you guys [I'm one too] not see this?

Or maybe you contemplate giving her some protein drinks?

Posted by: Joe Peden at April 15, 2004 at 02:56 AM

According to the Samizdatistas, Tim, you spent the whole time swigging Chardonnay. They seem to think this significant...

(Having drunk Fosters and several Barossa Valley Chardonnays I can't fault you on this one).

Posted by: David Gillies at April 15, 2004 at 06:28 AM

Yeah but they had Coopers Pale Ale on tap though....

"Or maybe you contemplate giving her some protein drinks?

Indeed, but perhaps not quite in the form you imagine.
