SPOOKS NEEDED. MUST BE FLUENT IN HTML

Got mad computer skillz and so forth? Then become a spy:

ASIO is to recruit more than 150 extra spies to bolster Australia's defences against the growing threat of Islamic terrorism.

The new vacancies will include general intelligence officers, surveillance officers, engineers and IT specialists. The agency is also keen to recruit linguists fluent in Arabic, Bahasa Indonesian, Pashtu and Urdu.

Computer experts will be required to "map" terrorist activities and to cross-reference data on terrorist suspects in Australia and overseas. All applicants should be self-starters and highly motivated, according to ASIO.

Hey, EvilPundit! Job for you!

Don't they mean Arabic, Bahasa, Pashtu or Urdu? Getting people with all four and Strine will be quite a headache.

I dunno bout this. This all sounds like racial and religious profiling! Not all terrorists are Islamic. Why, you know terrorists could just as likely be Amish. Or Seventh Day Adventists. Or Hare Krishna. Or AARP!
Are they going to "map" their terrorist activities too?

BTW, Dane. I think you left out a comma between w1ll and ph33r.

Not all terrorists are Islamic - but most are and certainly the ones of interest to Australia. We don't have a big problem with Catholic terrorists - ETA and the IRA.

Younger Australians don't know about Ananda Marga's attempt to blow up the Indian Prime Minister in Sydney - and Australia's home-grown loony, Tim Anderson. There haven't been large bombings in Australia - but there have been bomings.

Good week for spy recruiting. This might be an easier gig and no HTML or Urdu required.

No, they don't mean either Bahasa, or Bahasa Indonesia(n), they just mean Indonesian.

Bahasa = Language.
Bahasa Inggris = English
Bahasa Perancis = French
Bahasa Indonesia = Indonesian

When speaking English to say "bahasa", when you mean Indonesian, is stupid.

We don't say someone speaks 'langue' or 'sprache' or 'yuyan' or 'glossa', we say French, German, Chinese, Greek.

Captain Allcaps would make a great military comic book superhero. Nick Fury of SHIELD and CAPTAIN ALLCAPS take on Osama!
