PICTURES OF PEACE

More images from the weekend’s global spaz gatherings:

• Hooray for NYC’s improved skyline.

• A mime is lowered feet-first into a mime-shredder.

• Remember what happens to anyone bold enough to speak out.

• Here’s an unusual costume choice for someone wanting to stop war.

He would have REALLY made a statement for peace if he would have actually detonated himself amongst the peace protestors ...

I can't look at them anymore. It used to be funny, if irritating and frustrating. But now it just makes me filled with rage, depression and fear- fear that we're slowly losing this battle for civilization, day by day we are capitulating. And that the future that these apocalyptic clowns portend is not a pretty one.

I'll feel better in a few days I guess.

Don't be down, goldsmith. The protests get uglier as they get smaller. They're losing ground.

Yeah! Who cares if our governments lie to us anyway? What's it matter if they spend billions prosecuting wars in the guise of the war on terrorism.

Most of us have moved on by now.

Here's an appropriate costume choice for someone wanting to start a war.

Alan M Robertson can use photoshop poorly, and Tim Blair can't tell the difference.

Posted by: Alan M Photoshop at March 22, 2004 at 05:28 PM

screw the war on terror, let's kill all the damn mimes. seriously, does anyone actually LIKE mimes? anyone?! horrible little beasts.

Posted by: samkit at March 22, 2004 at 06:03 PM

I agree Samkit, as terry Pratchett once wrote, Mimes should be thrown in to a very deep skorpion pit with 10 foot high letters around it saying "LEARN THE WORDS"

Sincerity, he didn't start a war, but he'll damn well finish it.

Gotta wonder about the professionally designed posters in English appearing in...Prague? Is there a central warehouse somewhere for English-language placards (the better to catch the eye of the TV camera) which ships them all over the world?

Posted by: Annalucia at March 22, 2004 at 10:15 PM

i just can't comment on that ny one, sitting a few blocks away from the wtc...despicable fucktard

"Alan M Robertson can use photoshop poorly, and Tim Blair can't tell the difference."

It would be nice to think nobody actually believes Wellstone was murdered. But alas, a few poor souls do.

Mr. Photoshop --
It is not often that I am villified alongside people such as Mr. Blair. I take it as a compliment. Thank you.

A woman mimes while about 300 people create a circle around the symbolic spiral of violence at Wenceslas square in Prague.

Is that like the symbolic spiral of fecal matter that swirls around my toilet bowl not long after I eat whirled peas?

Actually, Annalucia, there is. I'm a little pressed for time right now but I think Tim, during the run-up to the war last year, may have posted about or linked to an outfit that does precisely what you describe . If Tim didn't, you'll probably find it over at Little Green Footballs.

"screw the war on terror, let's kill all the damn mimes. seriously, does anyone actually LIKE mimes? anyone?! horrible little beasts."

I once beat the shit outta this mime. I hate them too. He was all gestilating, and acting out words an d crap, so I walk over and beat the shit out of him. I almost felt bad when I found out he was deaf mute and just signing, but he started the mime shit at me again, and I hate mimes too.

Don't you people realize...?? War is only appropriate when it is waged by masked bombers against men, women, and children on buses and in restaurants. With accompanying commentary by mimes, of course.

"Did they make the mime talk?"

Y'know, that creep over at LGF gets 2-300 posts per blog item. Why can't the bloghead be that popular? C'mon guys, let's make this the number one sesspit for right wing drivel in the entire US empire! If you can't think of anything smart to say, post anyway! And post it twice just to get those numbers rolling.
