I do give some credence the pedophile comment though. I remember reading stories in newspapers even before Sept. 11 about child molesters from various European countries and Canada going to impoverished Asian countries to act out their fantasies. It was like some kind of tourist package, you know... transportation, 10 nights and all meals included, and tips on where to find the best children.

Not many commentators link the war against our civilization with it's postmodern state of debauchery. Maybe there's nothing there but onece in awhile somebody says something that points to this and it's either dismissed out-of-hand or in most cases ignored. Wouldn't want to go there would we? The left has finally found a "root cause" it doesn't want to address.

I managed to get a rise out of Herr Doktorprofessor Galtung.

In a class where he was a guest lecturer, I suggested that his and the Euro-Left's discomfort with the United States was due, in no small part, to the reality that the fate of Europe (and much of the world) had shifted from Paris-Berlin-London to the peripheries, i.e., to Moscow and Washington. (This was when there was still a USSR and a Cold War.)

Galtung became quite animated, and made it clear that only ignorance could have motivated such a statement.
