LEGAL INTERACTIONS

No matter how often it’s tried, the “right to interact with this broken world” defence just never seems to work:

A man jailed for decapitating a $354,000 statue of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher today lost an appeal against his conviction for criminal damage.

Paul Kelleher, a theatre producer from London, pleaded innocent to criminal damage, saying he was protesting globalisation and what he sees as Britain's too-close relationship with the United States.

He said the act was not criminal damage but "artistic expression and my right to interact with this broken world."

Meanwhile the animal liberationist charged in Australia with introducing sheep to an innovative pork-based diet is out on bail. He held a press conference this morning but was interrupted by an angry Victorian Farmers Federation livestock president Simon Ramsay, who simply said: “This man is speaking absolute and utter crap and I’ve had enough of it.”

Tim, could you start a beer fund for Simon?

Posted by: Charles at November 21, 2003 at 11:58 AM

My goodness,

You think you have heard from all the whackos and then you realise you forgot the animal liberationists! Isn't there a way we can screen them at birth and put them on Whacko Island?

what a sick nation we are. We get all upset when the sheep get left out to rot on the ships, and then when someone takes a preemptive strike against this foul trade, fuck wits like Blair rant on about how wrong it was to something about it.

You are so full of shit Blair you surely need your own sewerage treatment plant.

A gutless nation led by a pathological liar who couldn't give a fuck about anything other than getting himself back in for another three years at the taxpayer funded trough.

And who will pay for the last debacle with 70,000 sheep. Easy says Howard, just slog the morons who vote for me with another levy and my cheer squad will just look the other way and say nothing as usual.

More Taxes - More Spending that's the moto of the right wing in Australia nowadays.

Peter, you've become boring.

Posted by: Ken Summers at November 21, 2003 at 01:09 PM

Yeah, funny you should mention shit Peter, I was wondering when you'd return to shock and awe us with your insightful political commentary.

As far as Simon Ramsay and this Animal (liberationist)are concerned, I think they're both a pretty good example of Australians at their best and at their worst, respectively.

No prizes for guessing which camp Peter falls into.

Is that reference to sewage treatment plants a slur against my home town? We Werribee-Australians deserve better than this crude bigotry.

I thought these trendy animal liberationist types were really into multiculturalism, diversity and cultural sensitivity. Now it seems they want to force Muslims to adopt evil Western ways. Animal liberationist are fuelling terrorism.

this reminds me of those ignoramuses who, upon making day trips to the australian countryside in the height of summer, fire off letters to editors demanding that the sheep be shorn of their heavy coats, not understanding that they work as insulation from the heat

no sheep rotted on no ship pete and the only thing we got upset about was the duplicitous saudis reneging on a deal

but feel free to open an animal sanctuary pete

you'll have fun dipping 70,000 sheep

and dagging them

Peter Richardson what a foul mouthed cretin you are.

I have never encountered a person so willing to engage their mouth before giving their argument a second thought.

His argument is akin to saying "What a bunch of hypocrites you Aussies are - first we all bitch and moan about the environment, and then we get pissed off when some greenies sabotage 4WDs to do something about it".

Utter bullshit.

Where are you Amos? Peter Richardson is back blessing us with his words of wisdom.

Show some respect, Polly. After all, it is reasoned debate.

Besides, he gave me another verse for "The Tim Blair Troll Song". (Also known as "Girl, You'll Buy a White Good, Soon"
