Apologies for infrequent posting on the weekend. I was too busy trying to locate some hot chicken fighting venues. And there was the football, of course.

Sydney’s win exposed Port Adelaide for the Mama Cass-quality chokers that they are. They’re also hopeless strategists whose record in finals since 1999 now stands at one win from eight games. An assistant coach -- I don’t remember who -- made an absurdly over-confident pre-match comment on Ten’s telecast; something about “having done enough” before the match to secure the win. You don’t say that sort of thing when people are watching.

So, to next week and beyond. Brisbane -- now severely slowed by injuries to key players -- faces Adelaide on Friday night, and Port comes up against Essendon. The winner of the first game (I’m leaning to Adelaide, for what it’s worth) then plays Sydney. Essendon, who should extend Port’s chokefest, will play Collingwood.

Just quietly, Collingwood has the least injury worries of any remaining team (and Holland will soon be able to return). Which means, if we make it to the Grand Final, that Melbourne will have the most injury worries of any Australian capital.

Tune into UberSportingPundit during the rest of the finals for updates.

Mama Cass quality-chokers? Tim, that's your best turn of phrase yet.

Helluva game Saturday night. The Port/Sydney game yesterday was probably the lowest standard of football I have seen in a final. The whole game seemed to be played within 5 metres of the boundary line. It had more throw-ins than any game I have ever seen. Why you would choose to go the long way to goal when you have Tredrea in your team is beyond my understanding.

I heard that Neville Hilton is moving into the cockfighting business. From hot chicks to hotter chickens: you can't keep a good ALP entrepreneur down!

Speaking of chokers - it seems that poor old Ben Butler has thrown in the towel. Any takers for Tim Bliar? Anyone?

Hmm, don't recognize any of these teams. How will the Redskins do this year? What about Buffalo picking up Malloy? Can Favre carry the Pack for another season?

Mama Cass quality choker. Good one. I'll steal it for use over here. No credit, Blair. Unless it tanks - then I said I heard it from some Aussie guy on the 'Net.

Coming from a Collingwood supporter, the Mama Cass quality choker line is no big deal.

I was a Cock Teaser at Roosterama.

I used to enrage the bantams before the big bout...

If God loves us he wont let Collingwood win the Grand Final. Can you just imagine how even more unbearable Eddie McEverywhere would be?

On the other hand, He wont let Brisvegas or Port Adelaide win either or I'll never hear the end of it from Miss Noosa. I've never heard such language (much) after both her teams lost on the weekend.

Go the Bombers!

TIM TIM TIM how can you tip against Brisbane???

We've been there. Won that.

Probably the fact that Adelaide have a reasonable record up at the Gabba. Also, Adelaide are also at close to full strength.

I'm sorta optimistic about Adelaide's chances. Meanwhile, can someone please email me Essendon's club song; I want to go and annoy some Port supporters...

Observer, Guardian, whatever. The important thing to remember is that, as Dan Rather has often pointed out, the media do not have a liberal bias.

Here's for a Port vs. Adelaide grand final.

that would really piss Eddy and Sheeds off quite nicely.
