Well, if I was in a debate with some guy who gets up and argues that the war was wrong (and hence, we should have left with Saddam and his regime in power indefinitely), my likely reply would be to tear up my notes and leave early.

I mean, if they've just got up there and defended one of the world's worst dictators, why would I bother. In 9 out of 10 cases I reckon at least half the audience would be LAUGHING at such arguement....the obvious exceptions being at Independent Film Festivals and various trendy "Ideas Festivals".

I myself strongly favored the military action in Iraq until several anti-war protesters stopped traffic and defecated on the public sidewalks in San Francisco. After that, I realized the war was unjust and have become a peacenik.

Inane self indulgent poetry is a powerful weapon- I have heard that Rod McKuen was used as an instrument of terror in Korea, and one of his turgid odes was responsible for an entire division of Chinese regulars pulling their own heads off rather than having to hear the second quatrain.

Earlier this year, I walked past an anti-war rally. The crowd were all shouting out:

Which set me thinking: why not make up some new anti-war lyrics?
