BLOG BITS

Andrew Lloyd finds a Peace 'n' Luv Professor who demands that US troops get out of Iraq as soon as possible -- just like they did in Japan. Winds of Change and the affiliated Winds of Change War Watch have lots of solid opinion and researchy goodness. TVs Henry has moved. Welcome Bangladeshi blogger Rezwanul. And Corsair reports:

I got this Google hit in my referrer log. "Tim Blair" + hunk? You seem to have groupies! Maybe you should post some pictures.

I have, once or twice. Tends to kill the "hunk" searches, that's for sure.

Oops, that reminds me... (uploading, uploading, uploading...) I forgot to move the images for this post over. That's been fixed. (It's the Hawaiian shirt, Tim. It brings them in from all over.)

"...who demands that US troops get out of Iraq as soon as possible -- just like they did in Japan."

Actually, U.S. troops have never left Japan. There are roughly 48,000 U.S. military stationed there. Currently stationed in Japan are the 3rd Marine Division, a Marine Air Wing, two large Air Force bases (Yokota and Misawa), a carrier battle group plus a fleet command and control group, and a US Army ammunition depot. This is 58 years after the end of WWII.

From 1945 to around 1948/49, there was an American occupation army of around 250,000 soldiers.

Goodness, I'm a doofus. Don't know why the link didn't work before, but hopefully this is better.

BTW, Tim, I'm currently advertizing a vacancy and can guarentee I wouldn't hold your lack of Scottish accent against you. :)
